By:

One of the world's most beloved musicals is coming to the Manatee Performing Arts Center! The Manatee Players will present FIDDLER ON THE ROOF opening tonight, May 2 and running through May 19.

In the Little Village of Anatevka, Tevye, a poor dairyman, tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia.

Rich in historical and ethnic detail, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF has touched audiences around the world with its humor, warmth and honesty. It's universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.

Michael Bajjaly and Sharon Albert play 'Tevye' and 'Golde' with Marina Wright, Katherine Herbert, Emily Arthur, Audrey Lipton, Zoe Zimmermann and Emma Divine playing their daughters. The talented cast also includes Abe Johnson, Nick Drivas, J.D. Carter, Richard Robertson, Dawn Dougherty, Sarita Roche, Brandon Gutzman Ortiz, Jim DeBolt, Dan Salisbury, Dan Coppinger, Stella Arent, Bill Zimmermann, Andrew Kent, Meg Newsome, Valerie Westfall, Pam Martin, Sarah Martin, Eliza Lipton, Nancy Brining, Amy Padelford, Deborah Cochran, Abigal Zion, Delaney Couch, Sadie Ebert, Grace Gustafsen, Bob Weintraub, Leo Williams, MitcheAl Pearl, Matthew Martin and Caleb Buck.
