BOWFIRE Plays the Van Wezel, 3/20
The string performance ensemble BOWFIRE will perform at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall Tues. Mar. 20, 2012 @ 8:00 PM.
BOWFIRE is an ensemble of world-renowned musicians that takes audiences on a journey that moves from Jazz to Classical to Bluegrass to Celtic to Rock to World music. From the traditional fiddle and violin to the exotic Chinese erhu (a two-stringed instrument), BOWFIRE has been impressing audiences worldwide since 2000. BOWFIRE has recorded 2 CD's, their TV special "BOWFIRE Live" has been aired on PBS stations in the U.S., and as a Cineplex Big Screen event in Canada.
Creator and artistic director Lenny Solomon says, "When you put the best string players from around the world together on stage something magical happens. We are changing people’s perception of what a stringed instrument can do."
Directed by Broadway's Stafford Arima (Ragtime, Altar Boyz), BOWFIRE is a fully staged theatrical event.
