Asolo Rep Seeks Applicants for 2014 Student Journalism Program; Deadline 12/31
Asolo Repertory Theatre is seeking enthusiastic high school students for its Student Journalism Program. Selected students will gain behind-the-scenes access into the work of professional theatre and arts reporting. The students will work hand-in-hand with Sarasota Herald-Tribune theatre critic Jay Handelman and artists and staff from Asolo Repertory Theatre to develop a perceptive eye and passionate voice.
No prior experience with theatre or journalism is required. Asolo Rep seeks writers who bring curiosity and an appetite for analysis; in return the theatre provides a thorough and rigorous immersion into the artistry at Asolo Rep. Student journalists will attend productions to write reviews and preview articles, and receive a free Youth Pass good for additional shows through June.
Applications for area high school students are available now and due by December 31, 2013. Applications are available at http://asolorep.org/education/student-journalism. For questions or more information, email education@asolo.org, or call 941-351-9010 ext. 3307. The Asolo Repertory Theatre is located at 5555 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34243.
