About the program
Our faculty includes nationally and internationally recognized dancers, teachers, choreographers, and researchers, who bring a wide range of experience to the program. We value the traditions of dance, and are excited about new ideas and approaches. Our home in the Performing Arts and Humanities Building (PAHB) provides our students with state-of-the-art facilities for dance. Department facilities include three large dance studios, computer dance studio, sonic computer lab, locker rooms, and space for warm-up and study. Our alumni are out in the dance world, performing in companies and shows, teaching in private dance studios and public middle and high schools, or working in related careers like physical therapy and arts management.

Reported acceptance rate (source/year not provided by school): UMBC's Dance Department has a specific admission process: you must first be accepted to the university, and then, if accepted into the program, you must pass a "gateway" course (Intermediate Contemporary Dance Technique II) with a B or better.
