Theatre majors obtain jobs in a variety of occupations: dancers, choreographers, disc jockeys, drama teachers or coaches, radio and television announcers, costume designers, set designers, booking managers, publicists, and playwrights.
Students interested in a theatre major are encouraged to take part in college plays, community or other theatre groups. Few people are able to successfully enter the field without formal training. In addition to courses in the liberal arts, drama curricula include courses in acting, stagecraft, theatre production, and history.
Experience and talent are critical for success in theatre.
We are Harper College…the college in your community.
The College was established by referendum in 1965 and opened September 1967. It is named for Dr. William Rainey Harper, a pioneer in the junior college movement in the United States and the first president of the University of Chicago.
