The Austin Peay State University Department of Music is an active and highly visible component of the Clarksville Community. Composed of approximately 180 music majors and 32 full-time and adjunct faculty, the Department of Music is the largest producer of cultural events in the Clarksville area.
Housed in a state-of-the-art facility completed in 1990, students in the department practice, rehearse, and attend classes in a comfortable environment that is conducive to their creative and intellectual development. Performances take place in the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall, a 600 seat concert theatre that is regarded as one of the finest acoustical environments in the Southeast. Recent technology upgrades have included a 25 seat computer lab, "smart" classrooms, a completely digitized listening lab, and a video production facility.
Notable Alumni Include:
Vanessa Cobb - Vanessa Cobb is the director of instrumental music at Rossview Middle School. Previously, Mrs. Cobb was the 6th grade band director for White House Heritage Elementary, K-2 General Music teacher at Robert F. Woodall Primary School, and the assistant director for White House Heritage Elementary School. Cobb completed a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting and a Master of Music in Education at APSU in 2013 where she was named an Outstanding Graduate Assistant. While a masters student at APSU, Cobb was the graduate assistant for the athletic bands. She helped with rehearsals and wrote marching band drill. She also helped to organize and efficiently run the GOMB. Prior to her position at RMS, Cobb was the Assistant Director of Athletic Bands at APSU. She was also the band director at NWHS in Clarksville, TN. She is a member of NAfME, MTSBOA, and TBA.

The UConn School of Fine Arts Department of Music will present two performances this week as part of the UConn Music Inspire Series. On Thursday, Oct. 9, Ensemble Origo returns with Saravanda! Dances of New Spain, followed by a solo piano concert by Eric Reed on Friday, Oct. 10, at von der Mehden Recital Hall. Both performances begin at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15.

Rehearsed readings of the musical comedy America's Next Top Kid Chef Showdown by José Casas and Jenn Hartmann Luck will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 7pm and Sunday, June 22, at 2pm at the Provincetown Playhouse, 133 MacDougal St. Whimsical Cosmo Ridley hosts a top-rated kids' cooking show where four young contestants compete for the title of America's best kid chef and a $100,000 prize.
