Abbeville Opera House has announced its summer 2012 season, which will include CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES, DEATHTRAP, and THE FOX ON THE FAIRWAY.

CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES, a musical comedy by Jim Stowell, Jessica Zuehlke & Drew Jansen, will play June 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30 - 2012.

Church Basement Ladies, a celebration of the church basement kitchen and the women who work there, features four funny characters and their relationships as they organize the food and the problems of a rural Minnesota church. From the elderly matriarch of the kitchen to the young bride-to-be, learning the proper order of things, the book and music give us a look at their lives as we see them handle a record breaking Christmas dinner, the funeral of a dear friend, a HawaiIan Easter Fundraiser, and a steaming hot July wedding. They stave off potential disasters, share and debate recipes, instruct the young, and keep the Pastor on due course while thoroughly enjoying, (and tolerating) each other. Funny and down to earth, audiences will recognize these ladies as they begin to see the Church year unfold from below the House of God. Inspired by the books of Janet Letnes Martin and Suzann Nelson. A brand new musical comedy to kick off our 33rd Summer Theatre Season!

DEATHTRAP, a thriller by Ira Levin, will play July 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28 - 2012.

Dealing with the devious machinations of a writer of thrillers whose recent offerings have been flops, and who is prepared to go to any lengths to improve his fortunes, the play provides twists and turns and sudden shocks.

THE FOX ON THE FAIRWAY, a comedy by Ken Ludwig, will play August 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25 - 2012.

A tribute from Ken Ludwig (Lend Me A Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo, Leading Ladies) to the great English farces of the 1930s and 1940s, The Fox On the Fairway takes audiences on a romp which pulls the rug out from underneath the stuffy denizens of a private country club. Filled with mistaken identities, slamming doors, and over-the-top romantic shenanigans, it's a furiously paced comedy that recalls the Marx Brothers' classics. A charmingly madcap adventure about love, life, and man's eternal love affair with ... golf.
