The Round Barn Theatre at Amish Acres wraps up the 2016 season with a bright, red bow as the holiday favorite A Christmas Story: The Musical takes stage and brings with it all the festive cheer audiences will need for the holiday season. A Christmas Story: The Musicalopens November 11 and runs through December 31.

Based on the popular 1983 film, A Christmas Story: The Musical has a book by Joseph Robinette with music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Ralphie wants only one thing for Christmas: an Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-shot Range Model Air Rifle. A Christmas Story: The Musical is the hilarious account of Ralphie's desperate quest to ensure that this most perfect of gifts ends up under his tree this Christmas. All the cherished moments are here - the Old Man's leg lamp, the tongue-on-a-flagpole, the bunny suit, the Santa slide, and all of Ralphie's extravagant daydreams! Straight from Broadway‚ this musical captures holiday wonder with such deliciously wicked wit that it is sure to delight children and grown-ups alike. The holiday movie that the whole world loves comes to musical life.

A Christmas Story: The Musical is directed by Amber Burgess. The cast includes Round Barn Theatre Alums Josh Hatfield as Ralphie, Rory Dunn as The Old Man, and Don Hart as Santa Clause. Chicago actors Katherine S. Barnes, Kristin Brintnall, Joey Harbert, and Kelly Maryanski are all featured cast members, and new-comers Josey Miller (who plays the role of "Mother") of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Nick Manthe (who narrates the show as Jean Shepherd) of South Dakota round out this stellar ensemble.

The cast also features some great local young talent. Riddle Elementary 5th Grader Maison Ramsey plays Randy, Wararusa Elemntary student Brooklynn Redd plays Esther Jane, Elkhart Civic Theatre favorite Kayla Thompson plays Skut Farkus, Amelia Lowry of Bremen plays Nancy, North Wood Middle Schooler Lindsay Graber plays Schwartz, North Wood High School Junior Drew Flickinger plays Flick, Cora Callander of Bremen plays Mary Beth, Milord, IN native Joelle Rassi is in the Ensemble, and Woodview Elementary Fourth-Grader Kaitlyn Bell is in the children's ensemble.

A Christmas Story: The Musical opens on November 11 and runs through December 31 with 2:00 p.m. matinees and 8:00 p.m. evening performances. The Round Barn Theatre, in collaboration with the American Sign Language Interpretation Department of Goshen College will have Sign Language interpreters to translate the performance on Saturday, December 3.
