On Broadway Hosts Auditions For NOT THAT IDOLS SHOW

It's Monday Night Mayhem.....it's NOT that 'IDOLS' show! COMING TO ON BROADWAY, MONDAY NIGHTS, FEBRUARY 2011

It's not 'Idols' but it is LIVE! It's Cape Town's best and worst amateur talent.
And we, the people, get to be Simon Cowell!

Long before Idols came along, the public has been fascinated with watching rough diamonds come off the street and sing their hearts out in the hope of showbiz stardom. It's exciting, compelling, sad, funny and often moving and it's a formula that never fails. Amateur night at the Apollo has been running in Harlem, New York, for decades and has unearthed several superstars, including The Jackson 5 (winners by audience vote, August 13th, 1967), JAmes Brown and Stevie Wonder. We think we can do what Idols doesn't seem to be able to do...unearth the next Brenda Fassie or Jonathan Butler.
Where does Idols do wrong? They think it's all about the singing and the image. If those were the ingredients for success, Bob Dylan (that Voice!), Elton John (that Body!), Barry Manilow (that Nose!) wouldn't have got past the first round. It's only about one thing, and one thing only: how much do we, the public, love them? Sometimes we don't even know why. They don't sing so well, or they move funny, or they look weird, but for some reason we just love them. We could watch them and listen to them all night, and be back next week for more...because they entertain us.

That's why, we, the people, make the best judges. We don't have to know zip about singing or pitching or tuning or modulation or projection or breath control! We just know one thing.....we love you and we want more!
