Lefra Productions's hit farce, MY VROU SE MAN SE LYK SE TAS is coming to the Cape and will play the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town from today, 10 - 20 July 2013. MY VROU SE MAN SE LYK SE TAS is currently touring the country - take a look at the show's website to see the full details for the tour dates.

MY VROU SE MAN SE LYK SE TAS is one of Ray Cooney's successful farces from London's West End, now performed for the first time in South Africa in Afrikaans in a translation by Peet van Rensburg. Directed by Frans Swart, MY VROU SE MAN SE LYK SE TAS opened earlier this year at the KKNK in Oudtshoorn, where it played to full houses throughout its run.

The play tells the tale of Henry Perkins, a typical suburban accountant, who on his train ride home accidentally switches his case with that of another man, only to find out that the bag contains a small fortune. What follows is a frenetic series of events, filled with loads of laughs as the situation plays itself out.

Henry Perkins is played by Chris van Niekerk, who is well known for his roles in SEWENDE LAAN and BINNELANDERS. A Drama graduate of the University of Pretoria, he has also appeared in plays like DIE VLEIROOS, DIE JOGGER, MAGSPEL and TWAALFDE NAG. Another well known television star in the show is Amalia Uys, who until recently played Sanmari in SEWENDE LAAN and is making her return to the stage in the play as Betty Johnson. Uys studied drama at the University of Pretoria and she landed a role in the SABC2 comedy, GABRIEL. She wanted to study an Honours degree in Drama Therapy, but before she could do so, she was cast in her popular role on SEWENDE LAAN. The rest of the cast includes: Lulu Botha (Jean Perkins), Detective Davenport (Paul Lückhoff), Duncan Johnson (Bill), Chris van Rensburg (Vic Johnson), Botha Enslin (Detective Slater) and Phillru Achterbergh (Mr. Big).

Swart says it is always important to Lefra Productions to tour with their shows. "Our mandate to take theatre to the people is very clear.Very few production houses can tour productions of this format nowadays because of the great expenses involved. Places like Cape Town, Bloemfontein and Nelspruit have always been good to us and support our productions well. It would be awful if we were not able to visit these places with our productions."

Black is especially excited about the team players in the production. "We have brought together some of the best actors in South Africa to perform this farce, all with incredible comic timing. I was especially excited to tackle this new farce, which has never been done in South Africa and that is why we are all very excited to bring MY VROU SE MAN SE LYK SE TAS to offer South Africans a good laugh."
