Following the sold-out season of GREASE in 2016, The Masque Theatre once again aims to keep audiences dancing in their seats with its year-end fundraiser, FAME - THE MUSICAL. Nominated for many awards around the world, FAME - THE MUSICAL tells the story of several students who attend the highly acclaimed High School of Performing Arts in New York.

Based on the 1980s film, FAME - THE MUSICAL is a vibrant, exciting, dynamic and soul-searching show that has entertained millions of people worldwide. Guaranteed to leave audiences with nothing but happy memories, the show is a must-see for both Capetonians and visitors to the Mother City.

Through song and dance, FAME - THE MUSICAL follows four years in the lives of the fame-obsessed Carmen, the ambitious actress Serena, the quiet violinist Schlomo, the talented but illiterate dancer Tyrone, the determined actor Nick, the overweight dancer Mabel, the wisecracking comedian and bad boy Joe, and the financially strapped dancer Iris. The audience shares the ambitions, successes, challenges and failures of this class of highly talented and versatile students, who experience life's hurdles in their journey to becoming stars, learning that they cannot just perform their way through life. With a little bit of "Hard Work" and a whole lot of "Dancin' on the Sidewalk", they finally learn what it means to achieve "Fame".

The Masque Theatre focuses on providing a platform for emerging new talent, and its productions are a way to ensure that much-needed funds are raised to keep its projects alive. FAME - THE MUSICAL is a feel-good show for the entire family to enjoy, with an exceptionally talented cast promising to deliver an epic display of passion and talent.

FAME - THE MUSICAL runs from 12 - 23 December, with tickets costing R115 - R125. Bookings are online through Computicket, by phone on 021 788 1898 or by email.
