Led by star Robert Creighton, the cast of Cagney celebrated a visit to the New York Stock Exchange on Friday December 30th to ring the closing bell. Cagney is the dramatic new musical that follows the life of the legendary James Cagney from the streets of New York to his rise as one of the brightest stars of Hollywood, from a vaudeville song-and-dance man to the cinema's original tough guy. Broadway's Robert Creighton, in the role he was born to play, joins the cast who tap dance through a score that blends original music with classic George M. Cohan favorites.

The holiday season is not complete without the perfect music to accompany it. 'Broadway's Carols for a Cure' is the latest compilation album that embodies the spirit of the season like nothing else can. A project born completely out of love, 'Broadway's Carols for a Cure' pairs the casts from famous Broadway musicals with songs that are both classic and new. Cagney, the hit musical about James Cagney currently playing at The Westside Theater, Upstairs, celebrated the release of its original New York cast recording with a special live performance and CD signing at Barnes & Noble, Upper East Side, 150 East 86th St. (at Lexington Ave), on Thursday.

This week, July 17, marks the 117th birthday of Hollywood legend James Cagney. This very same week, CAGNEY, the new hit musical about James Cagney, plays its 117th performance at The Westside Theatre, upstairs. Among the stars who've recently come out to celebrate Cagney are Mario Cantone (Laugh Whore, 'Sex & the City'), Jerry Dixon (If/Then, Once on this Island), Lorna Luft (Guys & Dolls, Irving Berlin's White Christmas, Grease 2), and Tony Award winner Len Cariou (Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music). The new musical Cagney, with book by Peter Colley and music & lyrics by Robert Creighton and Christopher McGovern, received its New York premiere at The York Theatre Company last spring, where it played a limited five-week, sold-out engagement. The production just transferred off-Broadway at at The Westside Theatre - Upstairs (407 West 43rd Street). Last night's first off-Broadway preview of CAGNEY was quite special, as two member of James Cagney's family were in attendance. Sitting in the front row were Cagney's great niece Patricia Cagney Mack and her daughter Kelly Mack, visiting from California. Mrs. Mack's grandfather was Dr. Harry Cagney, older brother of James. Following the performance they visited with the cast onstage to tell them how much they enjoyed the show and how honored they were to be there. Scroll down for photos!
