Some plays rush. In Horton Foote’s award-winning play, The Trip to Bountiful, longing feels biblical, and patience gets tested, and City Theatre’s production reminds you how to sit still. Judith Laird is all steel beneath fragility, as an aging mother chasing the ghost of her childhood home. But what is home, if not a memory that may not wait for your return?

The Trip to Bountiful is set in Houston, Texas in the 1940s after World War II. The story follows Carrie Watts, an elderly Southern woman who dreams of escaping the bustling city to return to her rural home of Bountiful. She sets out on a risky journey to her beloved hometown with her family in hot pursuit.

This is another big winner for Red Phoenix.

Ford's Theatre Society announced full casting and the design team for Horton Foote's The Trip to Bountiful, September 23 – October 16, 2022. Directed by Michael Wilson, this classic American drama is a compelling portrait of family, what we hold onto and what we leave behind.

The Lamplighters Community Theatre is set to put up their production of Horton Foote's The Trip to Bountiful. The show runs from Friday, February 25, 2022 through Sunday, March 20, 2022. On Fridays and Saturdays, the production begins at 8pm, while Sundays begin at 2pm.

Writer-composer Jim Brosseau and veteran actor Halcyone Hurst have collaborated on a song to help lend levity to our virus-obsessed times. Brosseau rewrote the lyrics to Eartha Kitt's iconic a?oeSanta Baby,a?? the 1953 holiday hit written by Joan Javits and Philip Springer.

The Group Rep Presents Ira Levin's Comic Thriller DEATHTRAP directed by Jules Aaron, produced by Larry Eisenberg. One of the great popular successes of Broadway history and Tony nominated for Best Play in 1978, Deathtrap deals with the devious machinations of a writer of thrillers who is prepared to go to any lengths to improve his fortunes. Deathtrap runs April 6 through May 20 at the Lonny Chapman Theatre in North Hollywood.

Rubicon Theatre presents a timely and trenchant production of Shakespeare's tragedy KING LEAR as the centerpiece of the company's 20th Anniversary Season. Directed by Co-Founder James O'Neil, the production features a 20-member cast led by acclaimed actor and company memberGeorge Ball, who has starred in previous Rubicon productions of All My Sons, Man of La Mancha, and Jacques Brel… (New York, L.A., and international companies of the latter).

She sees a seemingly innocent little girl running around and playing with her mother Geraldine Page. THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL is a rather bland tale that challenges a director to perk up the drama, which threatens to vanish once we must pull away from the close-ups on its elderly protagonist, Carrie Watts, that TV and movies so readily provide. In the current CPCC Theatre production at Pease Auditorium, Charles LaBorde has a more satisfying way with the script than Michael Wilson did in the recent Broadway revival.

Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) Theatre is excited to kick off its 2015-2016 performance season with Horton Foote's "The Trip to Bountiful," September 25 to October 4 in its Pease Auditorium. The production will be directed by Dr. Charles LaBorde, founding principal of the Northwest School of the Arts.

Raven Theatre Company, currently performing the Chicago Premiere of Horton Foote's Dividing the Estate, is presenting a free screening of the new film version of The Trip to Bountiful, arguably Foote's best-known play. The film, which was produced by Lifetime Films and aired on Lifetime Television in 2014, reunited Cicely Tyson and Vanessa Williams in the lead roles they performed for the play's 2013 Broadway revival. That production and this film are significant in that African-Americans were cast in roles traditionally played by white actors throughout the piece's history as first a 1953 teleplay and stage play and the 1985 feature film as well as countless stage productions over the past 60 years.

Hallie Foote, an actress best known for playing some of her father's most memorable characters both on and off Broadway and in feature films, will visit Raven Theatre on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 for a public event entitled 'A Conversation with Hallie Foote about Horton Foote.' Horton Foote, who died in 2009, was the author of nearly 100 plays, teleplays and screenplays, including The Trip to Bountiful, Tender Mercies and To Kill a Mockingbird. Hallie Foote's roles in her father's plays have included award-winning turns in The Trip to Bountiful and The Roads to Home and a Tony Award nomination for Dividing the Estate. She was a producer of both the 2013 Broadway production of The Trip to Bountiful starring Cicely Tyson and the television version of the same. While in Chicago, Ms. Foote will attend a rehearsal and consult on Raven's upcoming production of Horton Foote's Dividing the Estate.

In his timeless and invigorating script The Trip to Bountiful Horton Foote engages our attention with his keen appraisal that 'The world can't be bought'. Believing the best things in life are free - well, almost..., elderly Carrie Watts (Cicely Tyson), in her Tony-winning role, proves just how healing a return to one's roots, however brief, may be. This Broadway revival directed by Michael Wilson also stars Vanessa Williams from the original New York production and Blair Underwood replacing Cuba Gooding Jr. It's a stellar cast, achieving a truly beautiful representation of Foote's infreqeuntly seen work.
