Signature Theatre has revealed its 2026-2027 Season. The 37th season features six musicals and two plays, including a world premiere musical, a regional premiere musical, and a DC premiere play.

The new Broadway season is in full swing, full of exciting new shows and revivals of beloved classics. While many of them are original concepts or based on plays, 12 have related films or series that you can watch from home. Brian Wilson, musical genius and founder of the Beach Boys, died today (Wednesday, June 11, 2025), so in honor of him, here is an article of the 40 greatest Beach Boys songs that I wrote for Broadway World two years ago.  Love & Mercy, Brian!

The tightly produced, crisply presented piece directed by Schoolhouse Producing Director Bram Lewis stars Wali Jamal in a thoroughly engaging and formidable performance that also profiles Mr. Armstrong’s lifelong manager Mr. Joe Glaser and another deity straight from the Mount Olympus of jazz, Mr. Miles Davis. Mr. Jamal skillfully presents the three as distinct personalities without overdoing it. He represents them rather than impersonates them, which is a wise choice because there only is one sun in this universe and it is the one and only Satchmo.

Richard Chamberlain, renowned for his roles in 'The Thorn Birds' and 'Shogun,' has died at 90. Chamberlain, celebrated for his versatility in film, theater, and television, passed away on March 29th, 2025, in Waimanalo, HI, following a stroke. His career spanned decades, earning him numerous accolades, including Golden Globes for his performances.

Asolo Repertory Theatre has announced complete casting for the Olivier and Tony Award-winning memory play Dancing at Lughnasa, which begins previews on March 19, 2025.

One Life, Live It!, a new play written and produced by Stephen S. Miller and directed by Laurie Rae Waugh will make its World Premiere at the New York Theater Festival at Teatro LATEA with three performances: Monday, May 8, 2023 at 6:15 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2023 at 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 14, 2023 at 3:30 p.m.

BIG HAIR. the musical-comedy and one-woman show about two of the silver screen’s most dynamic performers, Gilda Radner and Gene Wilder, will premiere at the Hollywood Fringe Festival Friday, 6/10 for two shows at The Broadwater Second Stage.

Broadway in Omaha's resident matchmaker found the perfect fit for Omaha audiences in the current hit Broadway tour of 'Fiddler on the Roof.' Featuring music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and a book by Joseph Stein, 'Fiddler on the Roof' is based on a series of short stories written by Sohlem Aleichem and follows family man Tevye as he navigates his three eldest daughter's search for true love in a time when matchmakers arranged the marriages and marrying for love was unheard of. This story of love, loss, and the most beautiful of traditions has found wild success not only on stage but on the big screen. It first opened on Broadway in 1964 and swept the Tonys with nine awards including one for best musical. It was followed shortly thereafter by a movie adaptation in 1971, which received eight Academy Award nominations. It's a family favorite for many, and it's become a musical standard for most of those in the musical theatre community.

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic rock opera celebrates its 50th Anniversary with a spectacular re-staging of the 2017 Olivier Award-winning Best Musical Revival production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Re-imagined through the eyes of director Timothy Sheader (Crazy for You, Into the Woods) and choreographer Drew McOnie (King Kong, Strictly Ballroom) this JCS dazzled with religiously frenetic choreography and wonderful supporting performances.

Bookings open at Computicket on Wednesday 22 September, with priority booking already open to Friends of the Ballet through the Artscape Box Office.

Set to Georges Bizet's dramatic, famous score, CARMEN will be performed to a recording by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. Inspired by Prosper Mérimée's romantic novel of 1845, CARMEN is the ultimate tale of love, passion, betrayal and revenge.

The iconic song has been officially certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), representing 10 million or more in sales and stream equivalents in the United States.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!
