When 162 of the world's most talented classical music students arrive at the Cleveland Institute of Music next fall, they will represent the most competitive and accomplished incoming class in CIM's storied history. On the afternoon of March 31, 2018, Aries in Flight, under the direction of Catherine Mancuso, presented its 3rd performance showcase at the TADA! Youth Theater in New York City. The showcase featured the work of thirteen emerging choreographers from the Greater NYC metropolitan area. The mission of the company is to enable dancers and performers to learn, create, and explore their craft in a safe, judgement-free environment. Ms. Mancuso is proud to celebrate diversity in dance by presenting this showcase with a wide range of dance styles and techniques.

Pacific Symphony, led by Music Director Carl St.Clair, makes its Carnegie Hall debut in the concluding program of the venue's season-long celebration of the music of Philip Glass. The program explores the influence of Ravi Shankar and Indian aesthetics on Mr. Glass and features the New York premiere of his The Passion of Ramakrishna, a Pacific Symphony co-commission for chorus, soloists, and orchestra that was given its world premiere by Pacific Symphony in 2006. The Pacific Chorale, which sang in the world premiere, will join Pacific Symphony for the performance at Carnegie Hall. The program also includes "Meetings Along the Edge" from Glass/Shankar collaboration Passages and Shankar's Third Sitar Concerto, featuring the composer's daughter Anoushka Shankar as soloist. Philip Glass is Carnegie Hall's 2017-2018 Richard and Barbara Debs Composer's Chair.

The sixth annual ArtFields competition and exhibition, sponsored by the Lake City Creative Alliance (LCCA), will return to Lake City, S.C. In 1904 the Friars started meeting, and in 1918 The Yiddish Art Theatre was founded. How symbolic that the Yiddish Theatre, now a City Village Cinema movie house was the scene of The Friars Sunshine Committee's annual morning of Christmas cheer for New York City Children. The kids are entertained by clowns, are given their early Christmas presents by some famous Friars, and the theatre staff makes sure they have unlimited popcorn while enjoying a movie.
