The Association on American Indian Affairs (AAIA), the oldest Native American service and advocacy organization in the country, has its roots in New York City. Started in 1922 and incorporated in New York, AAIA returns to the City each November for its Annual Meeting of the Members, Native Film Showcase and Honoring Reception. This year, we recognize three prominent Native American leaders at a cocktail reception tonight, November 20, 2014 at 6:00 PM.

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra performs Scheherazade this weekend, November 14-15, 2014 at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. Led by guest conductor Marcelo Lehninger, the performances feature Stravinsky's Suite No. 2 for Small Orchestra, Saint-Saëns's Piano Concerto No. 2 featuring Sean Chen, and Rimsky-Korsakov's iconic Scheherazade.

The Association on American Indian Affairs (AAIA), the oldest Native American service and advocacy organization in the country, has its roots in New York City. Started in 1922 and incorporated in New York, AAIA returns to the City each November for its Annual Meeting of the Members, Native Film Showcase and Honoring Reception. This year, we recognize three prominent Native American leaders at a cocktail reception on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 6:00 PM. Immediately following the reception, there will be an evening of entertainment featuring three short films, the screening of the inspiring documentary film, Playground of the Native Son, which tells the story of the Hominy Indian football team who played and defeated the World Champion New York Giants in the 1920's as well as performances by Martha Redbone and Shaun Taylor-Corbett, accompanied by Marisa Quinn. Documentary filmmaker Celia Xavier will introduce the feature film. Doors to the theater will open at 7:00 pm (start time 7:30). Performances and screenings are Free and Open to the Public. Seating is first come, first served.

Stage and screen star Leslie Caron speaks about her long and illustrious career in an intimate conversation at The Laguna Playhouse. Ms. Caron will be hosted by her longtime friend and producer Vincent Curcio in a question-and-answer format similar to "Inside the Actors' Studio." The conversation will be followed by an opportunity to meet Ms. Caron and purchase her memoir, "Thank Heaven." Ms. Caron will be signing books in the lobby. As a special bonus in honor of the 50th anniversary of the 26th Academy Awards (March 25, 1954) in which Ms. Caron was honored as a Best Actress nominee for her performance in "Lili" (1953), The Playhouse will be showing a free screening of the film at 7 pm. The Old Globe today announced it will present Emmy Award-winning actor Richard Thomas ("The Waltons," Fifth of July, "The Americans") starring in A Distant Country Called Youth, an intimate look at the making of an artist, adapted by Steve Lawson from early letters Tennessee Williams sent to his family, friends, and professional associates. This one-night-only engagement takes place on Monday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m.
