Theater for the New City, Crystal Field, Executive Director, and The After Dinner Opera Company present two new American operatic musical adaptations from classical works, Seymour Barab's operatic parody Out the Window based upon Georges Feydeux's farce 'Par La Fenetre;' and Rappaccini's Daughter, based on Nathaniel Hawthorne's gothic short story, with libretto by Linsey Abrams and music by Michael Cohen. Lissa Moira directs. Performances will be staged at the Cino Theatre at Theater for the New City, 155 First Avenue (bet. 9th and 10th Streets), New York, NY 10003 from tonight, September 11-28, 2014.

Music Theatre of Connecticut, Fairfield County's professional award-winning theatre company, celebrates their 30th anniversary with a one night only evening of food, drink and entertainment. The 30th Anniversary Celebration is set for Saturday, October 15, with food and drink at 6:30pm, followed by a performance in MTC's cozy 110-seat theatre. Tickets are extremely limited and proceeds benefit MTC and its programming.

The New Group's production of The Starry Messenger has welcomed new cast member Merwin Goldsmith, who has replaced Jonathan Hadary. The Kenneth Lonergan play stars Matthew Broderick and Catalina Sandino Moreno, and is now set to begin previews two days after the previously scheduled date on October 26 at Theatre Row.

This year, a living legend of musical theatre turns 90: Lyricist-bookwriter Tom Jones (who also, under a stage name) appeared in the original company of his most famous and wildly successful record-breaking musical, The Fantasticks. His collaborator, composer Harvey Schmidt, just recently passed away. The production's record-breaking run closed, on January 13, 2002, after 17,162 performances. Their shows also include 110 in the Shade, I Do! I Do!, Philemon, Celebration and many more. And celebration is what it's about when Broadway veterans Carole Demas, who originated the role of Sandy in Grease, and Sarah Rice, who originated the role of Johanna in Sweeney Todd, return to celebrate Jones & Schmidt. Demas and Rice have based the show on their 50 years of work and personal relationships with Tom and Harvey. With very special guest Broadway's Hal Robinson who is also a Fantasticks alumni.

The production runs from Nov. 28-Dec. 2 and Dec. 5-9 in Stage III, Webster Hall, 470 E. Lockwood Ave. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. only on Sundays. The Eventide Theatre Company has made a bold choice in sharing Frank's story with a Cape Cod audience through means of a score depicting her feelings while fearfully secluded in the "Secret Annex," with certain lyrics molded from actual quotes made by the young prisoner. It is safe to say that Eventide has done a spectacular job bringing both the joy and pain of Frank's life to living color for those who would not otherwise have understood the trials she and her family faced in such a gruesome time in history.

They will be joined by a thirteen-piece band (Michael Rafter, Music Director), playing new orchestrations by Tony Award winner Jonathan Tunick. When she was 13 years old, Anne Frank, like many young girls, received a diary for her birthday.  More than 70 years later, the diary she kept is read in classrooms around the world, produced as movies, plays and musicals.   This spring, Half Moon Theatre proudly presents a play based on Anne's diary called Yours, Anne.  The play has a limited run of two weekends at The Culinary Institute of America's Marriott Pavilion.
