The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts presents its second installment of the popular Broadway Songbook Series for the 2012-2013 Theater Season, 'The Words and Music of Stephen Sondheim,' Jan. 18-27 in the Ordway's McKnight Theatre. Producers of the five-time Tony Award nominated hit musical ROCK OF AGES have just announced that Kate Rockwell (Bring It On: The Musical, Legally Blonde), will 'Bring It' to Broadway's Bourbon Room, taking on the leading role of Sherrie - the "small town girl" who "took the midnight train goin' anywhere" - on Monday, January 21, 2013. That same day, Teresa Stanley (The Color Purple, Rock of Ages First National Tour) will take over the role of Justice, owner of the Sunset Strip's Venus Club.

Andrew Call (American Idiot) will join the company as Joey Primo today as well. Original Broadway Cast member Jeremy Woodard, who originated the role of Joey Primo off & on Broadway and has performed the role of Stacee Jaxx since September 2011, played his final performance on Sunday, December 16.

La Jolla Playhouse announces a new play development initiative, the DNA New Work Series, entailing a six-week period of workshop productions and public readings of new plays and musicals, taking place January 24 through March 3, 2013. The focus of the DNA New Work Series is to allow playwrights and directors the opportunity to develop a script by providing rehearsal time, space and resources, culminating in a workshop production or public reading.

Rehearsals for RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S Cinderella will begin Thursday, December 6 with preview performances starting January 25 prior to Opening Night on Sunday, March 3. (The previously announced opening date of February 24 turned out to be Oscar Night.) The box office at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway at 53rd St.) will open Monday, December 17 at 10 a.m.

Arizona Theatre Company presents the Arizona Premiere of "Jane Austen's Emma" a new romantic musical comedy that brings Jane Austen's masterpiece to life. "Jane Austen's Emma" plays at the Temple of Music and Art and runs from December 1, 2012 - December 22, 2012. It continues its run in Phoenix at the Herberger Theater Center from December 31, 2012 - January 20, 2013. "Jane Austen's Emma" is sponsored by Shirley Estes. ATC's season sponsors are I. Berkeley Playhouse opens its fifth season with Rodgers and Hammerstein's beloved final collaboration, THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Berkeley Playhouse founding Artistic Director Elizabeth McKoy helms this endearing family classic, featuring a cast of 40, with musical direction by Greg Mason and choreography by Staci Arriaga. On last night's episode of NBC's new comedy THE NEW NORMAL titled 'THE BIG O.M.G' Broadway's favorite funny lady Jackie Hoffman guest starred as 'Francis', David (Justin Bartha's) mother. In the episode, David is planning a family dinner to tell his mother about the baby, while Bryan (Andrew Rannells) comisserates with Goldie (Georgia King) about mother-in-law woes. On how she got started, she revealed 'Well, if you want to see shows, you have to actually get them going. I wanted to see Thoroughly Modern Millie, so I spent a great deal of time trying to connect with other people who wanted to see the same thing.'
