Arthur Pita to Premiere THE WORLD'S GREATEST SHOW at Ip-Art Festival in July

Award-winning director & choreographer Arthur Pita is set to premiere THE WORLD'S GREATEST SHOW*, a new dance theatre event exploring the phenomenon of dance marathons in 1930s America. Opening at Greenwich Dance on Friday 27 & Saturday 28 June, the production will be performed at Ipswich Corn Exchange as part of the Ip-Art Festival on Friday 11 & Saturday 12 July, culminating with a performance at the Paul Hamlyn Hall, Royal Opera House on Sunday 27 July.

The Indianapolis Symphonic Choir will conclude its 77th season with a one-night performance of Benjamin Britten's choral-orchestral composition War Requiem at 8 p.m. tonight, May 3, 2014 at The Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Ind. Among the most challenging musical selections of classical repertoire, the piece rarely is performed due to its musical demands on the performers as well as the expense and resources associated with producing a concert work of this scale.

Following his acclaimed New York Philharmonic debut on the ASIA / WINTER 2014 tour, jazz pianist Makoto Ozone will join Music Director Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic in a newly added concert Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. The all-American program will include Bernstein's Candide Overture; Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, featuring Mr. Ozone as soloist; Bernstein's Symphonic Dances from West Side Story; and Gershwin's An American in Paris. The concert will mark Mr. Ozone's U.S. orchestral debut; his appearances with the Philharmonic on the ASIA / WINTER 2014 tour marked his first performances with an American orchestra.

This summer the Almeida throws its doors open to its annual festival which celebrates the best of international theatre. Over four weeks (2 -28 July) the Almeida will present productions by Inua Ellams, Inspector Sands, Lost Dog and Custom/Practice with return visits from the TEAM, Greyscale and Young Friends of the Almeida. In addition there will be a programme of one-off events, to be announced shortly.
