Multiple Grammy and Oscar winning artist, musician and producer T Bone Burnett gave a thought provoking keynote speech at SXSW today, warning of the current dangers of the dominance of digital monopolies like Google and Facebook, while championing the value of the independence of artists. The Cleveland Orchestra and Music Director Franz Welser-M st announced details of their 2019-2020 season which encompasses 76 concerts over 26 weeks. One significant highlight includes a festival designed to explore music and art that was banned, marginalized, and destroyed during the Nazi's Degenerate Art movement, and the continuing impact of censorship on creative expression in society today. The festival will center on Alban Berg's Lulu, one of the 20th century's most influential operas, and includes partner programming with the area's notable arts institutions.

Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce the first show of the 2019 Mainstage Season will be the World Premiere of THE PROMPTER (May 28- June 16) a new comedy by Wade Dooley; directed by Scott Schwartz, Bay Street Theater's Artistic Director. The other two previously announced shows will be the World Premiere of SAFE SPACE, which will now run from June 25 - July 21. This new play is by Alan Fox and will be directed by three-time Tony Award Winner Jack O'Brien (All My Sons, Hairspray, The Coast of Utopia). The third show will be a bold new re-envisioning of Irving Berlin's classic musical ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, (July 30 - August 25) with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin, book by Herbert & Dorothy Fields. Four symphonic orchestras, a major heritage museum and one of Los Angeles' leading performing arts centers will join forces in 2020 for an ambitious collaborative initiative that will bring to life the sounds of music once lost. 

Yehuda Hyman is a Brooklyn-based choreographer and playwright who's new play, The Mar Vista: In Search of My Mother's Love Life will be running at the Ford Foundation Studio Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center from March 5 through March 23, 2019. What Will The Neighbors Say? is excited to announce casting for the workshop production of Founding Co-Artistic Director James Clements' latest play, Beauty Freak: Leni Riefenstahl's 'Olympia,' this November. The production will officially inaugurate the company's 2018-2019 season at the Plaxall Gallery in Long Island City, following a week long development workshop in the space. Spike Dolomite Ward, Executive Director of Theatre West, announced the addition of Kiki Ebsen's theatrical tribute to her father, entertainer Buddy Ebsen, is set for three nights this fall, October 12-14, 2018. S.E. Feinberg will direct the touching tribute "TO DAD WITH LOVE: A TRIBUTE TO BUDDY EBSEN,"and is co-produced by Kiki Ebsen, her brother, Dustin Ebsen, and associate producer Linda L. Rand. The performance, conducted by ACO Music Director George Manahan, will feature the world premiere of Valerie Coleman's Phenomenal Women performed by the Imani Winds with ACO; as well as the world premiere of Alex Temple's Three Principles of Noir with singer Meaghan Burke, director Amber Treadway, and costumes by Storm Garner. Grammy and Grawemeyer Award-winning composer Joan Tower's Chamber Dance from 2006, which treats the orchestra as a chamber ensemble, completes the program.

SHE LOVES ME, the 1963 Broadway musical with book by Joe Masteroff, music by Jerry Bock, and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, was based on Miklos Laszlo's 1937 play, Parfumerie, a warm, gentle comedy that follows the tangled dating life of perfume shop employee Georg Horvath whose dating life goes awry when he discovers that the stranger he has fallen in love with through a secret correspondence is none other than Amalia Balash, a co-worker with whom he constantly bickers. This universal tale about mistaken identity and romantic love went on to become the inspiration for the classic films The Shop Around the Corner, In the Good Ole Summertime, and Nora Ephron's 1998 box office hit You've Got Mail in which Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan took their secret romance online through emails.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the independent, not-for-profit affiliate of SDC, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, today announced unique plans for its 2019 award evening, which will feature original choreographic pieces resulting from a special commissioning program, with the application period now open. SDCF also announced that Victoria Traube would receive a special 'Mr. Abbott' Award at the event, to be held March 25 at the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF).

Academy Award-®winning actress Judi Dench will receive the Golden Icon Award on October 3. Dench will also present her latest film, RED JOAN, a drama inspired by the life of Melita Norwood, in which she plays a woman whose tranquil life is suddenly disrupted when she's arrested by MI5 and accused of providing intelligence to Communist Russia. Dench will present the film alongside co-star Sophie Cookson, who plays Young Joan.
