 Continuing its nearly two-decade tradition of bringing internationally-renowned authors and scholars to its campus, Marygrove College's Institute for Detroit Studies (IDS) will welcome Herb Boyd at its 44th Defining Detroit event on February 11, 2019.

The concept, a collaboration between Komische Oper Berlin and London-based performance group 1927, (Suzanne Andrade and Paul Barritt), was utterly unique, and Cincinnati Opera's production values were top notch.

Producing Artistic Director Rob Ruggiero announced today that TheaterWorks 2017-2018 Season will include The Wolves by Sarah De Lappe, Constellations by Nick Payne, The Legend of Georgia McBride by Matthew Lopez, Invisible Hand by Ayad Akhtar, and Hand to God by Robert Askins. 

A generous grant from the Ira and Leonore Gershwin Trusts Philanthropic Fund in the amount of $10,000 has been awarded to support the "Broadway to Main Street" program hosted by Laurence Maslon which airs Sundays at 3PM on NPR affiliate NY/Long Island station WPPB/88.3FM.

Of the three shows currently running at the Guthrie, THE ROYAL FAMILY is definitely the lightweight, longer on comedy and razzle-dazzle production values than on importance. (The other two shows are KING LEAR and PROMISE LAND, a barebones physical theater take on the Hansel and Gretel tale retold as an immigrant story.) Loosely based on the Barrymore acting clan, THE ROYAL FAMILY follows three generations of a prominent and wealthy family of performers, with particular attention to the female line.
