The Colony Theatre previously announced that it has achieved the first goal of its emergency "Save the Colony" campaign by raising $49,000 in ten days so that it can open THE MORINI STRAD as scheduled tonight, November 17th. However, the award-winning theatre company still must raise $500,000 by year's end to continue serving the region.

Sundance Institute today announced the seven artists selected for its 2013 Playwrights Retreat at Ucross Foundation, February 4-22, 2013. The annual writing colony at the 20,000-acre working cattle ranch outside of Sheridan, Wyo. provides a supportive environment for artists to create new work and receive guidance and reactions to it at an early stage. Under the supervision of Philip Himberg, Artistic Director of the Theatre Program, and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the Playwrights Retreat is made possible through the generosity of Ucross Foundation.

Tonight's October 18th performance of Trainspotting USA, Tom Mullen's "re-adaptation" of Harry Gibson's stage versions of Irvine Welsh's classic novel Trainspotting will include a post-show talkback with Mullen and Welsh, moderated by Tara Branham. The talkback will begin immediately following a 7 pm performance at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago.

Irvine Welsh's classic novel Trainspotting, which in 1996 was adapted as both a feature film by Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle and a play by Harry Gibson, will come to the Chicago stage in October in a new American adaptation of Gibson's play. This new version of Welsh's graphic and uncompromising story of young heroin addicts living in Edinburgh, Scotland has been re-imagined and set in Kansas City, Missouri.

ImprovBoston recognized its past and took a bold step toward the future this morning as the company made two big artistic announcements. Current Artistic Director Will Luera will transition to Artistic Director Emeritus and the theater is welcoming its first full-time Artistic Director, Michael Descoteaux. The transitions will begin effective October 1 and Descoteaux will begin his new position full time on January 1, 2013.

The Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) at Shepherd University has announced the 2012 five-play repertory for its 22nd season of producing and developing new American theater. The season will feature new plays from Johnna Adams, Bob Clyman, Neil LaBute, Evan M. Wiener, and Bess Wohl. The four-week festival, consisting of 94 performances and other programming, will be held July 6 - 29 in Shepherdstown, WV.
