Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce that the 2018 Young Artist Concerto Competition will be held December 6, 2017 at Bainbridge Performing Arts. The competition is open to all instruments (instrumental and vocal) for young musicians ages 12-21. The winner of the 2017 Young Artist Concerto Competition will have the opportunity to perform with the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra on April 14 & 15, 2018. But don't worry - searching for monologues is not nearly as hard as it seems, and it can actually be a very fun and educational process! After a regular season featuring over three dozen different serials, only one champion will emerge as the Serial Killers playoffs are set to begin at 11pm on Saturday, April 7 in the Black Box at The Broadwater Theater Complex. As each serial's story is told episodically, each week is another installment, but only two finalists will get to finish telling their tales and only one of those two will crowned the winner by audience vote.

Carol Harrison is probably best known for playing Louise Raymond in EastEnders. Her other screen work includes Brushstrokes, Get Back and London's Burning. Carol also works regularly in the theatre and has written, directed, produced the musical All or Nothing, which she also stars in. After three hugely successful tours, the show lands in the West End for the first time, this February.

In the depths of Minnesota's January cold, Children's Theatre Company (CTC) presents a story based on a town in England, with a name similar to one outside of Minneapolis, Stillwater. Here, the musical adapted from the 1938 Newbury Honor Book 'Mr. Popper's Penguins.' comes to life under Director Emma Earle. While the entire musical originally premiered through Pins and Needles Productions, Bristol, UK, CTC transports its cast and crew to the Minneapolis stage though numerous charming evenings and afternoons to savor.

The Groundlings' latest Friday/Saturday show GROUNDLINGS SKIS HAUS (opening December 6, 2019) will be helmed by Groundlings alumnae Karen Maruyama, who joined The Groundlings sometime in the 20th century. The ageless Karen had performed in innumerable sketches before earning her alumnae status. Aside from directing countless Groundlings shows (and its spin-off THE BLACK VERSION), Karen teaches all levels of The Groundlings Theatre & School, and at workshops in various Los Angeles venues. Karen most graciously managed to squeeze in some time to answer some of my grounded questions.
