Palo Alto Players opens its 2017-18 season with the South Bay regional premiere of Million Dollar Quartet, the high voltage Broadway musical inspired by the famed recording session that brought together rock 'n' roll legends Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins for one unforgettable night of musical magic. Million Dollar Quartet is directed by Jeffrey Bracco, musically directed by Katie Coleman, and features a cast of local Bay Area actors and musicians playing instruments live on stage as their iconic characters. In a bizarre and unfortunate case of life imitating art, Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston found itself without its leading man only hours before the curtain going up on their season-ending production of 42nd STREET. Producing Artistic Director Robert J. Eagle announced that the understudy would step into the role and the show opened as scheduled. It's a wonderful opportunity for patrons to ask the actors and director such questions as how characters are created, what goes into selecting a season of plays, and where they have previously worked. Actors in this production have a variety of backgrounds, including performing in regional theater, film and on Broadway, and are ages 12 on up.
