The Public Theater will begin previews on Monday, July 23 for Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical INTO THE WOODS, the second show of The Public's 50th Anniversary season at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Directed by Timothy Sheader with co-direction by Liam Steel, INTO THE WOODS will continue for five weeks through Saturday, August 25, with an official press opening on Thursday, August 9.

Tony winner Mark Rylance, who was set to perform in the Shakespeare-inspired opening ceremony for the 2012 Summer Olympics, has dropped out of the event due to a death in his family. Rylance said in a statement through the Old Globe: 'our beloved daughter and sister Nataasha passed away of unsuspected natural causes early on Sunday morning.'

Trevor Nunn will direct the Old Vic and Chichester Festival Theatre's production of KISS ME, KATE, with Music and lyrics by Cole Porter and Book by Sam and Bella Spewack, which is scheduled for London performances from the 20th of November and a Chichester premiere in June.

According to Baz Bamigboye for Daily Mail, Trevor Nunn's upcoming production of KISS ME KATE will transfer to the Old Vic after playing Chichester Festival Theatre this June. The production, which will star Hannah Waddingham, Alex Bourne and Adam Garcia, is set to open at CFT on June 18 and run through September 1. Possible transfer dates have not yet been announced.
