​​​​​​​Shanghai Ballet was founded in 1966. Spanning over thirty years, this company embraces a blend of traditional and Western dance styles. Xin Lili, Artistic Director since 2011, has brought to the company English versions of Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, a French version of Coppelia and La Sylphide, as well as George Balanchine's Serenade and La Valse. Lili has also invited creations to be made for the Shanghai Ballet. Currently, the Artistic Director of the Shanghai Ballet and it's eighty dancers is Derek Deane with his team. My first impression was that this is a fresh, young company, full of enthusiasm and with room to grow.

SIMON WEXLER, former principal dancer of Texas Ballet Theater and former member of American Ballet Theatre, will appear as a guest artist in the Etudes de Ballet's production of The Nutcracker on December 20 and 21, 2019 at the Golden Gate High School Auditorium in Naples, Florida.

First State Ballet Theatre stages a completely original DRACULA at the baby grand October 18 - 20. Choreography is by Viktor Plotnikov, a longtime collaborator of Artistic Director Pasha Kambalov. This summer the internationally lauded dance troupe BalletBoyz made its West End and Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut with its critically acclaimed Them/Us, an innovative double bill and a brand-new collaboration from the company's own dancers and the Olivier Award-winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon. A co-production with Sadler's Wells, Them/Us played at Sadler's Wells in March as part of a UK tour. The production will now tour to Reading, Milton Keynes, Shrewsbury, Cambridge, Brighton and Deptford.
