The Old Globe today shared its 2016 Summer Season, which will feature new and familiar works directed by four major American stalwarts. The season features the welcome return of Steve Martin (Bright Star) with the World Premiere of his new play Meteor Shower, an adult comedy, directed by Gordon Edelstein, in a co-production with Long Wharf Theatre, where he serves as Artistic Director. Paul Gordon's musical Sense and Sensibility will have its West Coast premiere, presented in association with Chicago Shakespeare Theater, where it had its world premiere in February 2015, directed by CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines. The Summer Shakespeare Festival will include Macbeth, directed by Brian Kulick, Artistic Director of Classic Stage Company, and Love's Labor's Lost, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall.

'[Thank you] to an incredible cast of British and American actors who make the Atlantic look like a little creek you can just kind of pop across,' said Dame Helen Mirren upon receiving her 2015 Tony Award. The stage and screen star reprised her critically-acclaimed performance in THE AUDIENCE after a West End run in 2013, and she was just one of many to 'pop across' an ocean for a stab at Broadway.  An unprecedented amount of British talent took over Broadway last year, bringing us such productions as THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, WOLF HALL: PARTS 1 & 2, and SKYLIGHT.   It doesn't seem like the trend is ending anytime soon. This fall, Broadway will welcome a slew of British actors- some of whom will be making their US stage debuts in incoming productions. And it's not just performers. We're getting some complete British imports in shows like A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE and KING CHARLES III. Below, we're taking a moment to shine a spotlight on this season's British imports.

As previously announced, the Kennedy Center will present a Barbican and Les Theatres de la Ville de Luxembourg, in association with Toneelgroep Amsterdam, production of ANTIGONE by Sophocles, in a new translation by T.S. Eliot Prize-winning poet Anne Carson from tonight, October 22, through October 25, 2015 in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater.

Newly adapted by David Hare and directed by Jonathan Kent, YOUNG CHEKHOV: THE BIRTH OF A GENIUS, opened on 17 October, which presents a unique theatrical event seeing a repertory cast of 23 actors performing 50 parts in PLATONOV, IVANOV and THE SEAGULL. For the first time ever on this scale, audiences will be given the opportunity to see all three shows in close proximity performed by the same group and with the same creative team.

Screen Actors Guild Foundation and Broadway World have partnered for filmed Conversations Q&A series to recognize and celebrate the vibrant theatre community in New York City and the union actors who aspire to have a career on the stage and screen. The most recent conversation featured Juilette Binoche, moderated by BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge. ·         In 2016 the Royal Court Theatre celebrates its 60th birthday by looking towards the future. The new season includes six world premieres, five UK and worldwide collaborations, one European premiere, a major collaboration with LIFT, a partnership with Picturehouse Cinemas, the return of Open Court and ongoing work in Tottenham and Pimlico.

Georges Bigot, an iconic figure with Ariane Mnouchkine's Theatre du Soleil 25 years ago and one of the most lauded stage actors of his time, is in Chicago to conduct a three-week workshop with American actors and dramaturgs. The workshop is working towards a production next year to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death - although Bigot prefers to think of 2016 as the 456th anniversary of the poet's birth. Details of the "what" and "where" of the production has yet to be settled, but it's safe to say that when the production happens, it won't be Shakespeare as usual.

Opening Night is tonight, October 8. The world premiere of INDECENT is a co-production with La Jolla Playhouse, where it will play November 13-December 10.

On Wednesday, October 7 (1pm), Screen Actors Guild Foundation and BroadwayWorld.com will present a Conversations on Broadway career Q&A with Juliette Binoche, currently starring in BAM's 'Antigone'. The event will be held at the NYIT-Auditorium on Broadway (1871 Broadway).

Written by Mark Hampton and Mary Louise Wilson and directed by Andrew Russell, FULL GALLOP runs now through October 25, 2015, with opening night tonight, October 1 at 8:00 p.m., in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

Triptyk Studios has announced that Elie Landau, a 21-year Broadway industry veteran, who previously served as an Associate General Manager for 101 Productions Ltd, and whose producing credits span stage and film, has joined the company as Executive Producer.

After having worked together for over 7 years, Stuart Thompson and David Turner are forming a new general management company, Thompson Turner Productions, which will have King Charles III as its first Broadway credit and will continue to be a general management company for Broadway and touring shows.  Thompson will continue to produce under the umbrella of Stuart Thompson Productions.

Classical Greek theatre will take over Classic Stage Company when it begins its 2015/2016 season with the inaugural GREEK FESTIVAL!

In addition to the previously announced Michelle Dockery, Janet McTeer and Dominic West, the production will feature Adjoa Andoh, Theo Barklem-Biggs, Morfydd Clark, Edward Holcroft, Jennifer Saayeng and Una Stubbs.

English Touring Theatre and Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse today announce the full cast for the world premiere of their co-production of The Odyssey: Missing Presumed Dead. The production reunites Simon Armitage and Nick Bagnall after their recent collaborations on The Last Days of Troy and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Nick Bagnall directs Lee Armstrong, Simon Dutton, Roger Evans, Polly Frame, David Hartley, Ranjit Krishnamma, Chris Reilly, Sule Rimi, Danusia Samal, Colin Tierney and Susie Trayling.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced that Hamlet In Bed, written by Michael Laurence and directed by Lisa Peterson, will begin previews Friday, August 28, at 8pm at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place.  Joining Mr. Laurence in the cast is Annette O'Toole.  The official opening night is set for Thursday, September 10; the production will run through Sunday, October 25.

Tony winning director Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening, American Idiot and Hedwig And The Angry Inch) has lined up an all-star cast for his upcoming film adaptation of Chekhov's THE SEAGULL.

At its recent June Board meeting, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts' (DCPA) appointed Broadway producer Tara Smith as an incoming Trustee.
