The classic film Rocky Horror Picture Show will be shown at Hershey Theatre on Saturday, October 29 at 11:59 p.m. (midnight) as part of the town's 'Halloween In Hershey' festivities.

The Frederick theatre scene will be rockin' this Halloween as Way Off Broadway and Stock•ing Productions team up to bring the cult classic The Rocky Horror Show to the stage for a special Halloween presentation. Judging by opening night at the Old Globe, San Diego, fan reaction to Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show is every bit as over-the-top silly as the attention paid to the 1975 cult film retitled The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Rocky Horror is a 1973(London)/74(LA)/75(Broadway) sendup of early sci fi, class B horror films and offers a curiously appealing view of some gay and wildly campy transgender lifestyles. They also cover their heads with newspapers to avoid the rain, wave flashlights back and forth and move instep to 'The Time Warp' in the aisles. It was 1977 midnight showings of the film that started this audience participation trend, which shows no signs of stopping.

A Georgia production of THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, playing at Atlanta's Plaza Theatre has just been shut down by local political leaders for being overly offensive and too risque. After the mayor, Wayne Garner, was shown a video of the show in rehearsal, officials decided that an R-rated farce was not suitable for a city-owned venue, and the production was stopped.
