Next up on the Main Stage, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will present the New Jersey premiere of Bill Cain's Equivocation. When the Bard and his troupe of players receive a royal commission to dramatize the events surrounding the infamous Gunpowder Plot, the artist must confront the demons of his past, his present, and his obligations to the truth and artistic integrity. Equivocation was described in Variety as "one of the most bracingly intelligent, sizzlingly theatrical American plays in a decade."

Following recent grand-scale stagings of Don Carlo and Nabucco it is again with Verdi that Opera Philadelphia makes its first appearance of the season at the Academy of Music, with the American premiere of a stylish new production of La traviata from award-winning Scottish director Paul Curran. Highlighted by a black-tie Opening Night Gala (Friday, Oct. 2), and a free HD broadcast in Independence National Historical Park to mark the company's fifth annual Opera on the Mall event (Saturday, Oct. 3), Opera Philadelphia's presentation showcases the company and role debuts of Metropolitan Opera favorite Lisette Oropesa as Violetta and Grammy Award-winner Alek Shrader as Alfredo, with Music Director Corrado Rovaris, whose “ownership of Verdi rivals any of the late greats” (Opera News), at the podium.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, New York City Ballet principal dancer and Theatre World Award Winner Megan Fairchild departed the Broadway revival of On The Town last weekend. Now, New York City Ballet soloist Georgina Pazcoguin steps into the role of 'Ivy Smith' for performances from tonight, August 11, through August 23. Beginning August 25, Misty Copeland will make her Broadway debut in the role for 12 performances only, through September 6.

On the heels of being named the first female African-American principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre, The New York Times is reporting that Misty Copeland will be joining the cast of Broadway's ON THE TOWN next month. After New York City Ballet principal dancer Megan Fairchild departs the show, Copeland will take over the role of Ivy for two weeks, beginning August 25th.

Silver, FAICP, announces that the second section of new construction on the Rockaway Beach boardwalk will open to the public this Friday, July 3, in time for the holiday weekend.
