Known as “The Supergroup That Never Was,” Corky Laing's POMPEII recorded The Secret Sessions between 1976 and 1978 after a re-introduction to old friend Ian Hunter via Steve Wax of Elektra / Asylum. Laing recalls, “The late 70s was a turbulent time as the musical taste went through a generational change. Punk was just beginning to surface in the rock landscape. It replaced the increasingly complacent era of glam and classic rock with a new confrontational and rebellious attitude.

After last season's much-buzzed-about Butterfly and Carmen, HEARTBEAT OPERA-the daring young company whose unconventional orchestrations and stagings of classic operas have been called 'a radical endeavor' by Alex Ross in The New Yorker-returns to Baruch Performing Arts Center with its fourth annual Spring Festival May 2-13, 2018. Heartbeat will premiere adaptations of two operatic masterpieces, both radically staged, trimmed down and re-orchestrated: Mozart's DON GIOVANNI and Beethoven's FIDELIO.

George Street Playhouse, now located at 103 College Farm Road in New Brunswick, announced today that it's retiring the popular musical Austin the Unstoppable from its New Jersey repertoire with the conclusion of the 2017-18 academic year. Austin… and the Educational Touring Theatre's other current production, New Kid, are available for booking at schools and organizations through April 2018. New Kid will continue to be available for booking next year.

After a successful run of limited edition releases with Mondo, the art boutique of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Bleeding Skull! has teamed up with AGFA to share wild horror and exploitation movies from the 1980s and 1990s with the world. The video for 'Partyin' Is Such Sweet Sorrow' from Tristen's acclaimed record, Sneaker Waves (Modern Outsider; 2017), premieres today via BUST Magazine. In the video, Tristen flips the script, writing and singing the song from the perspective of a man. Through this process, she scratched the surface of a greater problem, the lack of women writers and complex female characters. Thus, came the creation of its visual and accompanying essay titled 'Is Art Imitating Life or Just Limiting Women.'

Oregon Shakespeare Festival 2018 Season Opens 2/23

The Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival will launch its 83nd year with preview performances beginning on February 16. The 2018 season officially kicks off Friday night, February 23, in the Angus Bowmer Theatre with Shakespeare's Othello (director, Bill Rauch). On Saturday afternoon, Shakespeare's Henry V (director, Rosa Joshi) opens in the Thomas Theatre, and the West Coast premiere of Kate Hamill's adaptation of Jane Austen's novel Sense and Sensibility (director, Hana S. Sharif) opens that evening in the Angus Bowmer Theatre. On Sunday afternoon, Karen Zacarias's Destiny of Desire (director, Jose Luis Valenzuela) will be staged in the Angus Bowmer Theatre.
