NEW YORK FESTIVAL OF SONG opens its 2018-2019 season with W. C. Handy and The Birth of the Blues. NYFOS celebrates W. C. Handy, often referred to as the "Father of the Blues," and his vast influence as a prominent African-American composer and publisher in the early 20th century.

DPAC was just named the 2018 Theater of the Year by the International Entertainment Buyers Association (IEBA), a leading trade organization for live entertainment industry professionals. The award was announced Oct. 2 during IEBA's 48th annual conference in Nashville, TN.

The Music Institute of Chicago's Faculty and Guest Artist Series continues Sunday, October 28 with a 3 p.m. "Spooktacular" Concert and 4 p.m. Haunted Musical Open House at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue, Evanston. Using a festive Halloween theme as inspiration, the Music Institute's award-winning faculty perform appropriately "scary" music that showcases the historic 1914 E. M. Skinner pipe organ as well as a variety of instruments and musical styles.

The Sacred Fools Theater Company is kicking off its 22nd Season with Burglars of Hamm for a remount of the award-winning Resa Fantastiskt Mystisk. Resa was recently produced at this year's Hollywood Fringe Festival where it took home Top of the Fringe honors. The first Mainstage show of the Sacred Fools season, Resa opens Friday, October 5 and runs through Saturday, November 3 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 7pm. The show will be performed in the Main Stage Theater of the Broadwater Theater Complex.

Winner of 19 major accolades, including multiple Tony, Olivier and Drama Desk Awards, Stephen Daldry's (Billy Elliot, The Crown) multi award-winning production of J.B. Priestley's classic thriller An Inspector Calls will kick off a four-city U.S. tour at Shakespeare Theatre Company from November 20 through December 23, 2018.

Montalvo Arts Center will present The Ultimate Queen Celebration as part of its 2018-2019 Carriage House Theatre Concert Series. Garnering 13 million views on his YouTube cover of "Somebody to Love," Marc Martel not only sounds dead-on like Freddie Mercury, but also embodies the heart-and-soul Freddie poured into every song. Handpicked by Queen's Roger Taylor and Brian May, Marc Martel will take on lead vocals for this Queen tribute featuring dozens of songs that Queen made famous, including "Killer Queen," "Radio Gaga," "Bohemian Rhapsody," and more. The Ultimate Queen Celebration will be presented at 7:30pm, Thursday, November 15 at the Montalvo Arts Center, 15400 Montalvo Rd., Saratoga. Montalvo Arts Center will present critically acclaimed guitar virtuoso Leo Kottke as part of its 2018-2019 Carriage House Theatre Concert Series. An American musical icon, Leo Kottke has been hailed as one of the most important and influential guitarists of our time. A two-time Grammy nominee, Kottke's fingerpicking style draws on blues, jazz, and folk music, and incorporates syncopated, polyphonic melodies for a performance by turns unique, charming, and brilliant.

Transport Group has announced casting for its world premiere musical, Renascence, which begins performances Friday, October 5 at 7:30pm, at the Abrons Arts Center, 466 Grand Street. Renascence has music by Carmel Dean (musical director If/Then, American Idiot), book by Dick Scanlan (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Everyday Rapture), and lyrics from the poems of Edna St. Vincent Millay. The musical is directed by artistic director Jack Cummings III and Dick Scanlan. The opening is set for Thursday, October 25 at 7:30pm.

The touching new Musical Daddy Long Legs is making it's Georgia premiere at the Legacy Theatre! This beautiful Off-Broadway hit opens September 7th and runs through September 30th.

Montalvo Arts Center will present a rollicking evening of Ireland and Scotland's hottest new musicians performing a blend of old and new music as part of its 2018-2019 Carriage House Theatre Concert Series. Directed by Bruce Coleman, with music direction by Bryce Biffle and choreography by Bethany Lorentzen, the classic musical is sure to be a hot ticket.

Hershey Area Playhouse is pleased to present Daddy Long Legs. Daddy Long Legs is a stage musical with a book by John Caird, and music and lyrics by Paul Gordon. It is based on the 1912 novel of the same name by Jean Webster. It is set in turn-of-the-century New England, the musical tells the story of orphan Jerusha Abbott of the John Grier Home and her mysterious benefactor who agrees to send her to college, who she dubs 'Daddy Long Legs' after seeing his elongated shadow. Under the conditions of her benefactor, Jerusha sends him a letter once a month, describing her new-found experiences with life outside the orphanage.

Bard College announces the appointment of several distinguished new members of faculty across disciplines this fall. Arthur Aviles '87 joins the faculty as a guest artist in dance. Aviles is an award-winning New York-based dancer and choreographer.

Auburn Jam Records has released the concept album of major new musical Broken Wings, an autobiographical tale of tragic love based on Lebanese-born poet Kahlil Gibran's 1912 masterpiece. The show is written by West End star Nadim Naaman (The Phantom of the Opera) and Dana Al Fardan, one of The Middle East's leading contemporary composers, and with orchestrations by Joe Davison.
