DPAC Wins IEBA Theater Of The Year Award

The Music Institute of Chicago's Faculty and Guest Artist Series continues Sunday, October 28 with a 3 p.m. "Spooktacular" Concert and 4 p.m. Haunted Musical Open House at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue, Evanston. Using a festive Halloween theme as inspiration, the Music Institute's award-winning faculty perform appropriately "scary" music that showcases the historic 1914 E. M. Skinner pipe organ as well as a variety of instruments and musical styles.

Sacred Fools Teams Up with Burglars of Hamm for RESA FANTASTISKT MYSTISK

The Sacred Fools Theater Company is kicking off its 22nd Season with Burglars of Hamm for a remount of the award-winning Resa Fantastiskt Mystisk. Resa was recently produced at this year's Hollywood Fringe Festival where it took home Top of the Fringe honors. The first Mainstage show of the Sacred Fools season, Resa opens Friday, October 5 and runs through Saturday, November 3 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 7pm. The show will be performed in the Main Stage Theater of the Broadwater Theater Complex.

Montalvo Arts Center will present The Ultimate Queen Celebration as part of its 2018-2019 Carriage House Theatre Concert Series. Garnering 13 million views on his YouTube cover of "Somebody to Love," Marc Martel not only sounds dead-on like Freddie Mercury, but also embodies the heart-and-soul Freddie poured into every song. Handpicked by Queen's Roger Taylor and Brian May, Marc Martel will take on lead vocals for this Queen tribute featuring dozens of songs that Queen made famous, including "Killer Queen," "Radio Gaga," "Bohemian Rhapsody," and more. The Ultimate Queen Celebration will be presented at 7:30pm, Thursday, November 15 at the Montalvo Arts Center, 15400 Montalvo Rd., Saratoga. Casting Announced For Transport Group's World Premiere Of New Musical RENASCENCE

Transport Group has announced casting for its world premiere musical, Renascence, which begins performances Friday, October 5 at 7:30pm, at the Abrons Arts Center, 466 Grand Street. Renascence has music by Carmel Dean (musical director If/Then, American Idiot), book by Dick Scanlan (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Everyday Rapture), and lyrics from the poems of Edna St. Vincent Millay. The musical is directed by artistic director Jack Cummings III and Dick Scanlan. The opening is set for Thursday, October 25 at 7:30pm.

Mark Linehan and Jennifer Ellis march in step in a glorious rendering of Meredith Willson's THE MUSIC MAN to close out Reagle Music Theatre's 50th Anniversary Summer Season with a bang. Director/choreographer Susan M. Chebookjian's staging is seamless, with one production number after another showing off the ensemble's terpsichorean talent with challenging dance combinations, and Music Director Dan Rodriguez conducts a 12-piece orchestra that brings out the brio of Willson's score. The 1957 Tony Award-winning Best Musical still has lots of get up and go, with stirring marches and patter songs, romantic ballads, and a town full of characters as American as apple pie.

Hershey Area Playhouse is pleased to present Daddy Long Legs. Daddy Long Legs is a stage musical with a book by John Caird, and music and lyrics by Paul Gordon. It is based on the 1912 novel of the same name by Jean Webster. It is set in turn-of-the-century New England, the musical tells the story of orphan Jerusha Abbott of the John Grier Home and her mysterious benefactor who agrees to send her to college, who she dubs 'Daddy Long Legs' after seeing his elongated shadow. Under the conditions of her benefactor, Jerusha sends him a letter once a month, describing her new-found experiences with life outside the orphanage.

Auburn Jam Records has released the concept album of major new musical Broken Wings, an autobiographical tale of tragic love based on Lebanese-born poet Kahlil Gibran's 1912 masterpiece. The show is written by West End star Nadim Naaman (The Phantom of the Opera) and Dana Al Fardan, one of The Middle East's leading contemporary composers, and with orchestrations by Joe Davison.
