With eight performances still remaining in Toronto, the North American tour of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's MARY POPPINS set a new Canadian record grossing $2,088,824.50 CDN during the nine performance New Year's week ending January 1, 2012. This figure marks the highest single-week gross for a theatrical production in Canadian history. By the time the premiere nine-week Toronto engagement concludes on Sunday, January 8 at The Princess of Wales Theatre, it will have entertained more than 130,000 people and grossed approximately $13 million CDN at the box office.

We are sad to report the news today, that Harry Kullijian, husband of Broadway legend, Carol Channing, passed away on Monday in Southern California, just a few short days of his 92nd birthday. Channing, performed the night before in 'A Carol Channing Chirstmas' at the Agua Caliente Resort & Casino in Rancho Mirage, California and the next day Kullijian collapsed at home, and died from what the Modesto Bee describes as an aneurysm related condition, that he had been treated for two years prior.

About three years ago, when my daughter was five, she was invited to join a classmate and the classmate's grandmother on a Grandmother/Granddaughter day at the theatre. This lovely woman had graciously paid for Orchestra seats to The Lion King for her grandchild and my daughter. Full price orchestra seats. You can see where this is going…ten minutes into the first act, my daughter got scared and all three of them ended up watching the show from the monitors in the Lobby.
