Liz Callaway and Ann Hampton Callaway Bring BOOM! to Pepperdine University, 3/23

Vocalists Liz Callaway and Ann Hampton Callaway star in BOOM!, their sisterly tribute to the baby boom generation, at Pepperdine University's Smothers Theatre in Malibu at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 23.

In BOOM!, memories come alive through the music of such greats as Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Carly Simon, the Beatles, Paul Simon, Jimmy Webb, and Stevie Wonder, to name a few. The Tony Award-nominated sisters share heartwarming and humorous stories of their years growing up in Chicago and New York, putting their unmistakable stamp on solos and duets of songs such as "Both Sides Now," "Up, Up, and Away," "That's the Way I've Always Heard It Should Be," "Bridge over Troubled Water," "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?" and "Downtown," among other classics.

Liz Callaway, an award-winning actress, singer, and recording artist, made her Broadway debut in Stephen Sondheim'sMerrily We Roll Along. She received a Tony Award nomination for her performance in Baby, and for five years she sang "Memory" as Grizabella in Cats. She also starred in the original casts of Miss SaigonThe Three Musketeers, and The Look of Love. Off-Broadway, she received a Drama Desk nomination for her performance in The Spitfire Grill and also appeared in No Way to Treat a LadyMarry Me a LittleGodspell, and Brownstone. Other New York appearances includeHair in Concert, the legendary Follies in Concert at Lincoln Center, A Stephen Sondheim Evening, and Fiorello! at Encores! She also starred as Venus in the Chicago Ovations! production of One Touch of Venus and in Elegies at Reprise! in Los Angeles.

As a champion of the Great American Songbook, Ann Hampton Callaway has made her mark as a singer, pianist, composer, lyricist, arranger, actress, educator, TV host, and producer. Her unique singing style blends jazz and traditional pop, making her a mainstay in concert halls, theatres, and jazz clubs, as well as in the recording studio, on television, and in film. She is best known for her Tony-nominated performance in the hit Broadway musical Swing! and for writing and singing the theme song to the hit TV series The Nanny. She is a Platinum Award-winning writer whose songs are featured on five of Barbra Streisand's CDs. She has been a special guest performer with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall and Tanglewood, and is featured at many of the Carnegie Hall tributes. She has sung with more than 25 of the world's top orchestras and big bands, and she has performed for President Clinton in Washington and at President Gorbachev's Youth Peace Summit in Moscow. Her PBS-TV variety show, Singers Spotlight with Ann Hampton Callaway, features special guests Liza Minnelli and Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole.
