The Jurkowitz Center for Community Engagement is pleased to partner with the Cliff Drive Care Center to screen Toy Story 3, the fourth installment in the 'Movies That Matter with Hal Conklin' Film Series, on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 7:00pm at The Granada Theatre. The evening will also feature a Q & A with Conklin and representatives from the Cliff Drive Care Center to engage the audience in meaningful conversations about the film. PROFILE THEATRE presents a production of the comedic drama 2.5 Minute Ride by Pulitzer and Tony-winning playwright Lisa Kron. Riding the rails of humor and horror, this solo performance features NYC-based actor Allison Mickelson, who recently impressed audiences at Portland Center Stage in Lisa Kron's award-winning musical Fun Home. It will be directed by Jane Unger, Profile's founding artistic director, and marks the first full (double!) season for Profile's ambitious new Artistic Director Josh Hecht, as well as the third year of the Diversity and Inclusivity Initiative.

The Company's 96th Season will open Friday, September 7 with a gala double-bill performance of Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana and Ruggero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci in Jos Cura's production with an international cast featuring Lianna Haroutounian, Ekaterina Semenchuk, Roberto Aronica, Marco Berti and Dimitri Platanias, conducted by Daniele Callegari. To usher in the new opera season, San Francisco Opera Guild will produce its signature benefit event, Opera Ball 2018.

At a time when the USA is waffling on its commitment to honor Harriet Tubman with her image on the 20 dollar bill, Woodie King, Jr.'s New Federal Theatre will present 'Harriet's Return: Based Upon the Legendary Life of Harriet Tubman,' written and performed by Karen Jones Meadows. The production takes audiences on a deeply personal, high energy journey into the private and public life of this famed Underground Railroad conductor, spiritual icon, revolutionary, and entrepreneur, whose life spanned nine decades and still influences the consciousness of people throughout the world. The production is directed by Clinton Turner Davis and will take stage February 8 to March 4 at Castillo Theatre, 543 West 42nd Street.

Maurice W. Dorsey brings forth a fictional narrative of his life and the struggles he had to endure while growing up as an unwanted child and being an African-American gay man. In 'From Whence We Come' (published by Xlibris), Dorsey is personified by the fictitious character named Seymour Rose. He was born to a father who is Catholic and accepts his son unconditionally and a mother who is born Methodist and is homophobic - but most of all, she tells her son throughout his life that she never wanted to have him.
