Dorset Theatre Festival will open the 45th Season of professional summer theatre at the Dorset Playhouse with a regional revival of the classic thriller, Wait Until Dark, directed by Jackson Gay.

The Old Globe's 2020 Summer Season brings to Balboa Park an extraordinarily talented group of artists who will delight audiences with their unique takes on four great works of theatre. The season incudes a classic American musical, a new adaptation of a 20th century thriller, and two of Shakespeare's masterworks on our outdoor stage.

Opening this past Friday was the Theatre In The Park, indoor, community theater production of 1966's 'Sweet Charity' The show is best known for several Cy Coleman/Dorothy Field songs that have long survived the play's original run and several revivals. The most well-known tunes are 'Big Spender,' 'If My Friends Could See Me Now,' and 'There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This.'

Whether she's falling in love, or in a lake, Charity Hope Valentine is the underdog we all love rooting for; she's a little lost, she's hopeful, but while she can never quite get her big break on the stage or in love, Theatre in the Park audiences will love falling in love with SWEET CHARITY.

I'M NOT A COMEDIANa?? I'M LENNY BRUCE focuses on the life and battles of the undisputed comic legend, one of the greatest stand-up artists of the 20th Century. His life and work have had an impact on poetry, politics, music, film and, of course, comedy, becoming a true inspiration for hundreds of comics who followed his lead in speaking the truth about our out-of-whack society. During the 90-minute show, now more tightly presented so scenes seem to flow effortlessly, Marmo authentically inhabited the great passion and great pain Bruce endured in his tempestuous personal and professional lives, as well as his unwavering commitment to free speech which led to numerous obscenity charges and arrests.

Tippet Rise Art Center today announced that it will soon break ground on the latest of the lovingly crafted, sculptural buildings that dot its landscape: a new pavilion designed by the world-renowned architect Francis Kere. The 1,900-square-foot gathering place is scheduled to open in summer 2019.
