Nashville theater audiences were treated to a wide range of dramatic offerings in 2010, with the revival of some of the best-known American plays of the past half-century, along with productions of some amazing original works by a group of talented homegrown playwrights, whose subjects ranged from what goes on in the intimate confines of the ladies' room to a murder mystery comedy with a film noir ambience. Clearly, if 2010 is any indication, the new 2011 season now under way is going to be filled with even more surprises and delights.

Given the odds, for one to have been involved with a singular Broadway success would be impressive. To have been involved with two would solidify one's status as a true Broadway 'player.' How about 4, running at the same time? Only two artists have been able to boast such an accomplishment, the first being Susan Stroman, whose productions of Contact, The Producers, The Music Man, and Thou Shalt Not all ran simultaneously for a short time in 2001. Last season, Broadway's go-to choreographer, Sergio Trujillo, joined her company with his superfecta of Next to Normal, Jersey Boys, The Addams Family and Memphis. It appears that like Jersey Boys, Memphis, and The Addams Family, Trujillo is showing no signs of breaking his streak, or going anywhere, with new projects in the pipeline incoming.

Today, President Barack Obama named fifteen recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. A courtroom drama set to glorious music, Georg Friedrich Handel's oratorio Susanna tells "a gripping tale of blackmail and lies that threaten to send an innocent young woman to her death," said Eugene Sirotkine, Conductor and Music Director of the Hudson Valley Singers who will perform the piece twice this season both in White Plains and in Manhattan. Last night, the chorus and their guest soloists, rising stars in the opera world, received a standing ovation. Accompanied by the New York Metamorphoses Orchestra and world-class soloists, the final performance is on Saturday, January 16 at 7:30 pm at the Church of St. Ignatius of Antioch
