The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced today that their board of governors have voted to give Jerry Lewis the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. Lewis is to be presented with the special Oscar statuette on February 22, 2009 during the 81st Annual Academy Awards.

In Rich and Famous, playwright Bing Ringling yearns to savor the sweet taste of celebrity, and he's hoping play number 844 will be his lucky break. It has been confirmed that Joan Rivers has cancelled the return season of her one-woman show Joan Rivers: A Work in Progress in Leicester Square Theatre. The show, which ran at the theater from August 29th through September 18th 2008 was scheduled to return on December 2nd where it would run through January 29th, 2009.

Howard McGillin, Broadway's longest-running Phantom, will star in 'The Broadway Musicals of 1947,' which kicks off the eighth season of The Town Hall's critically acclaimed Broadway by the Year series. He will be joined by a powerhouse cast that includes two-time Tony nominee Marc Kudisch, and more of Broadway's great singer/dancers than in any other previous Broadway by the Year concert.
