American Public Television (APT), a leading syndicator of top-rated programming to the country's public television stations, selected ideastream's production, “The Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Concert with The Cleveland Orchestra,” for national distribution. Stations across the United States have the opportunity to select the program for broadcast beginning in January 2020. The Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, UC Davis announces its 17th season of performing arts, filled with the leading artists in music, dance and theater alongside a powerful group of speakers. The season begins on September 22, 2018, with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and concludes June 2, 2019, with the Alexander String Quartet and pianist Joyce Yang debuting a new work by composer Samuel Carl Adams.

Friday, April 20, day two of Live Ideas 2018: Radical Vision looks into the role of the press, what it means to be a journalist in an endangered liberal democracy, and what obligations the press has today. Opening the day will be visual artist Huiying B. Chan, who will read words by legendary activist Grace Lee Boggs, followed by author and journalist Moustafa Bayoumi's reading of works by Edward Said and a presentation of speeches by Muhammad Ali read by journalist Greg Tate. The readings will start at 4 pm. Admission is free.

Anniversaries are customarily times to reflect on the past, but for Maine State Music Theatre's Artistic Director, Curt Dale Clark, the 2018 gala celebration of the company's sixty years is not only a time to celebrate history, but also to use the significant milestone as an opportunity to look to the future. 'We are thinking forward and not resting on our laurels. We are accentuating what works, trying to fix what doesn't, and trying to find new ways to engage the community and make them happy,' Clark explains his philosophy about the Brunswick-based theatre's upcoming historic season.
