The WOMEN'S CHOICE AWARD SHOW announced today that Oscar nominated actress, producer, director, writer and humanitarian Sharon Stone will be honored with the Icon Award for her lifetime achievement in film and passionate activism to make the world a better place.

San Francisco Ballet, long recognized for pushing boundaries in dance, has announced its 2017-18 Season program and schedule. This summer, SF Ballet will return to Festival Napa Valley for one performance only on Friday, July 21, 2017, accompanied by members of the SF Ballet Orchestra. In addition, this October, the Company will once again participate in World Ballet Day LIVE, a day-long streaming event (details to be announced).

Renee Fleming sings her final performances of one of her signature roles as the Marschallin in the Met's new production of Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier, opening April 13. Robert Carsen directs the new production-the company's first new staging of the piece since 1969-with Sebastian Weigle conducting all performances. The starry cast includes El?na Garan?a in her company role debut as the Marschallin's young lover, Octavian, opposite Erin Morley as Sophie, the innocent young woman who comes between Marschallin and Octavian; Gunther Groissbock as Baron Ochs, the Marschallin's oafish cousin; Marcus Bruck in his Met debut as Sophie's father Faninal; and Matthew Polenzani as the Italian Singer. Kathleen Kim sings Sophie in the April 28 and May 1 performances.

Second Thought Theatre continues its 2017 season of change with the area premiere of Straight White Men by Young Jean Lee. Local director/actor Christie Vela returns to direct for the company after making her acting debut for Second Thought last summer in A Kid Like Jake. Straight White Men begins with previews on Wednesday, April 12 and runs through Saturday, May 6. Robert Dick's residency at The Stone this March is a powerful representation of his extensive creative versatility. Running from March 21st  through 26th, this will be the first time that an array of his projects will be presented in New York. Ranging from completely improvised (We Are the Walrus, a duo with baritone Thomas Buckner; Dissonant Geranium, a trio with Miya Masaoka, koto and Ken Filiano, bass; Raise the River, a duo with drummer Tiffany Chang; Our Cells Know, contrabass flute solo), to a project based on Robert Dick's works that embrace improvisation within a strong compositional framework (The Time Between Us, a quartet with Stephanie Griffin, viola; Ned Rothenberg, alto sax, bass clarinet and shakuhachi; Satoshi Takeishi, drums), to efforts based on collaboration (Bermuda Rectangle, a quartet with singer/spoken word artist Vince Bell, voice and guitar; David Mansfield, guitars; Ratzo B. Harris, bass). These performances all come together to put Robert's expressive range front and center.

WAM Theatre is delighted to announce that their 2017 Fresh Takes Play reading series will begin with The Flora and Fauna by Alyson Mead, winner of the Arizona-based Bridge Initiative: Women in Theatre New Work Contest.  The play chronicles the celebrations and challenges of a female friendship that spans almost 30 years. Additionally, this opening reading of the Fresh Takes Series will be a partnership with the Berkshire Festival of Women Writers, with a portion of the box office proceeds from the reading going to the Festival.

Today the Tricycle Theatre announces initial programming for its fourth Takeover. Six venues across the borough will host more than 25 free events, screenings, performances and masterclasses across a 13 day period in April.
