Carole Demas and Sarah Rice to Celebrate Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt in THANK YOU FOR YOUR LOVE

Broadway veterans Carole Demas, who originated the role of Sandy in Grease, and Sarah Rice, who originated the role of Johanna in Sweeney Todd, have teamed up to celebrate the music of Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, composers of THE FANTASTICKS, 110 IN THE SHADE, I DO! I DO! and more. Demas and Rice have based their show on their 50 years of work and personal relationships with Jones and Schmidt. 

ROMEO AND JULIET Announced as Shakespeare Festival St. Louis' 2018 Production

Shakespeare Festival St. Louis announced today that Romeo and Juliet will be the 2018 season main stage production at Shakespeare Glen in Forest Park. A romantic tragedy, the production is scheduled June 1-24; preview nights are set for May 30-31.

The vengeful and doubting King Leontes and his falsely accused wife Queen Hermione will be played by Festival veterans Charles Pasternak and Cherie Corinne Rice in Shakespeare Festival St. Louis' production of The Winter's Tale, June 2-25, at Shakespeare Glen in Forest Park. This marks the company's 17th season of free, outdoor, professional theatre in the park. Preview performances are scheduled May 31 and June 1.  Performances run nightly, except Tuesdays, and begin at 8 p.m. 

Wilson Center to Honor Claire and Glenn Hackmann at The Big Event

A shared commitment to the power of the arts will be celebrated on Sat., June 3, 2017, at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts (Wilson Center), as Greater Milwaukee philanthropic leaders Claire and Glen Hackmann are honored with the 13th annual EDDY Award. The presentation will take place at The Big Event, which serves as the major channel through which the Wilson Center raises funds for its arts education programs that impact the lives of more than 9,000 students from Southeast Wisconsin each year.

Shakespeare Festival St. Louis' production of The Winter's Tale opens at 8 p.m., on Fri., June 2, at Shakespeare Glen in Forest Park. Highlights to this year's production include original music composed by St. Louis-based The Rats & People Motion Picture Orchestra, a diverse cast under the direction of four-time Festival director Bruce Longworth, and the unveiling of Schlafly's custom-labeled draft beer, The Winter's Ale. This summer, SF Ballet will return to Festival Napa Valley for one performance only on Friday, July 21, 2017, accompanied by members of the SF Ballet Orchestra. Renée Fleming Sings Final Performance in Met Opera's DER ROSENKAVALIER, 4/13-5/1

Renee Fleming sings her final performances of one of her signature roles as the Marschallin in the Met's new production of Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier, opening April 13. Robert Carsen directs the new production-the company's first new staging of the piece since 1969-with Sebastian Weigle conducting all performances. The starry cast includes El?na Garan?a in her company role debut as the Marschallin's young lover, Octavian, opposite Erin Morley as Sophie, the innocent young woman who comes between Marschallin and Octavian; Gunther Groissbock as Baron Ochs, the Marschallin's oafish cousin; Marcus Bruck in his Met debut as Sophie's father Faninal; and Matthew Polenzani as the Italian Singer. Kathleen Kim sings Sophie in the April 28 and May 1 performances.
