Vancouver Art Gallery presents Rapture, Rhythm and the Tree Of Life - Emily Carr and Her Female Contemporaries from December 7, 2019 to June 28, 2020. Emily Carr (1871-1945) is an iconic Canadian artist who is widely recognized for her paintings of the forested landscapes of British Columbia that evoke the possibility for transcending the material world through the colour, shapes and rhythms of nature. Drawn primarily from the Gallery's permanent collection, this exhibition features a number of Carr's paintings of forest interiors-environments that she often described in her journals as offering an almost rapturous connection to the divine.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, which is entering its 85th year, today announced the casts for the 2020 season, featuring some of the most beloved performers from OSF's history alongside newcomers from around the country. OSF is one of the most prominent theatre companies across the nation that have joined the Jubilee, a yearlong nationwide commitment by theatres to feature work generated by those who have traditionally been excluded from or marginalized by the theatre industry. Five Shakespeare plays staged as four productions, alongside two new plays inspired by him, take the Festival's stages in 2020. Two more commissions from OSF's multi-decade commissioning program American Revolutions: the United States History Cycle will also premiere.

On September 8th at 3 pm at the Center for Jewish History, the celebrated storyteller sits down with another notable New Yorker and his former New York Postcolleague: Bronx native and acclaimed New York Times reporter Clyde Haberman.

This summer, the Bard Music Festival celebrates its 30th anniversary season with a two-week, in-depth exploration of 'Korngold and His World.'

Auréole – flutist Laura Gilbert, violist Mary Hammann, and harpist Stacey Shames – is considered by many the world's pre-eminent flute, viola, and harp ensemble, having commissioned and premiered more works for their instrumentation than any other such trio in the world. Embracing the Wind, a new disc of works written between 1978 and 2000 by Israeli composers Paul Ben-Haim and Lior Navok and Americans Ian Krouse and Robert Paterson, is the group's 15th recording, and its first on the American Modern Recordings label. It is the 20th AMR release.

Hartford Opera Theater will offer New in November 9, a collection of short operas and opera excerpts. This opera festival will play Sunday, November 18 (7pm) at The Cathedral House at Christ Church Cathedral, 45 Church Street, Hartford, CT. The Adelphi Orchestra will feature Randall Mitsuo Goosby, Violin (First Prize winner of the Adelphi Orchestra Competition, First Prize winner of the Sphinx Competition ) in the rarely performed and defiantly triumphant Korngold Concerto for Violin in D major, Op. 35. Randall Goosby's performance of the Korngold Violin Concerto will be the centerpiece in a program entitled "From Vienna with Love" which will also feature Strauss's Overture to Die Fledermaus and concludes with the beautiful Symphony no 2 in D major by Brahms. The concert,  conducted by Richard Owen on Sunday October 27th at 7PM will take place at  NYC's historic Good Shepherd - Faith Presbyterian Church located in the heart of Lincoln Center. The Orion Ensemble, winner of the prestigious Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, continues its 26th season with 'Russian Passion,' welcoming guest cellist Ian Maksin and guest violist Stephen Boe. Performances take place November 11 at a new venue, First Congregational Church of Glen Ellyn; November 14 at the PianoForte Studios in downtown Chicago; and November 18 at the Music Institute of Chicago's Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston.

The first ever collection of George Szell's Complete Recordings for Columbia Masterworks on 106 CDs is now available thanks to Sony Classical. The collection features symphonies, overtures and other orchestral works, concertos and chamber music, recorded from 1946 to 1969, 92 recordings remastered from the original analogue tapes using 24 bit / 192 kHz technology.

That he fulfilled that dream is amply documented in the huge discography that fills Sony's new edition of 106 CDs, “recordings that are prized for their stylistic rightness, clarity of structure, rhythmic tension, and transparency of texture” (The New Yorker).
