Chance Theater, Anaheim's official resident theater company, will present A Charlie Brown Christmas as part of our 2018 Holiday Series! Created by Charles M. Schulz, based on the television special by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson, this stage adaptation by Eric Schaeffer is presented by special arrangement with Arthur Whitelaw and Ruby Persson, and will be directed by Resident Artist James McHale. Curator and producer Peter Musante (Andrew Schneider's YOUARENOWHERE; Blue Man Group; Trusty Sidekick's Up and Away, a groundbreaking show for kids with autism, called 'immersive theater at its most thoughtful' by the New York Times) joins West Coast physical comedienne Summer Shapiro ('raises the craft of clowning to new levels'- NYTheatre.org) to conceive of a new immersive theater festival for the entire family, inspired by the community organizing principles of Jane Jacobs. With seven new works based on true events from Greenwich Village history, the festival brings together leading NYC experimental theatre artists, musicians, physical comedians and clowns for two programs, each consisting of an interactive pre-show and four short stories that bring the surrounding neighborhood to life. The event, recommended for ages 5 and up, is presented by New Ohio Theatre as part of its Theatre for Young Minds holiday series. The performances run from December 20 thru 31 at 154 Christopher Street, NYC. Catskill's Bridge Street Theatre is delighted to announce its 2019 line-up of plays - five magnificent and audacious stage works for audiences to savor between April and October.  It includes two world premieres, a Victorian comedy, an American classic and an astounding musical about The Shaggs.

Philadelphia Theatre Company announces the director and full cast for the Philadelphia premiere of Marsha Norman and Jason Robert Brown's sweeping musical version of the best-selling novel, The Bridges of Madison County. The production is the second of the inaugural season under Producing Artistic Director Paige Price. For Bridges, Price has tapped Mark Martino to direct a cast rich with local theatre stars and Barrymore Award-winners, alongside actors with notable national and Broadway credits. The cast is led by Philadelphia actress Sarah Gliko and PA Native and Broadway actor Gregg Goodbrod.  Recent Barrymore Award winner Amanda Morton (Passing Strange, Wilma Theater) will serve as the Music Director. The Bridges of Madison County runs February 8-March 3, 2019 at Philadelphia Theatre Company's stage at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, 480 S. Broad Street. Irish Repertory Theatre is excited to announce The Sean O'Casey Season, a comprehensive retrospective of the work of renowned Irish playwright Sean O'Casey, to take place from January through May of Irish Rep's 30th Anniversary Season.

The Ojai Film Festival and Women In Film (WIF) will present a Legacy Series event with acclaimed actress Eva Marie Saint on Friday, November 9 at the Ojai Art Center. The intimate filmed interview produced by WIF's Ilene Kahn Power and Dorothea Petrie, directed by Petra Haffter, and edited by David Flores and Zachary Weintraub, is a 40-minute retrospective of the Academy, and Emmy award-winning star's career in film, television and stage. The event begins at 4 pm with the screening, followed by Q&A with Ms. Saint. A reception will follow.

The Hunter Theater Project at Hunter College (President, Jennifer J. Raab) announced a two-week extension today for the critically acclaimed New York premiere of Anton Chekhov's UNCLE VANYA, directed by Richard Nelson, at the Frederick Loewe Theater (E. 68th Street between Lexington and Park Ave). Translated by Richard Nelson, Richard Pevear, and Larissa Volokhonsky, and directed by Nelson, UNCLE VANYA began performances on Friday, September 7 and was originally scheduled to run through October 14.

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Executive Director), dedicated to the development of new musicals and rediscovery of musical gems from the past, presents the Off-Broadway premiere of the acclaimed new musical Midnight at The Never Get, with book, music, and lyrics by Mark Sonnenblick, co-conceived by Sam Bolen, by arrangement with Visceral Entertainment and Mark Cortale Productions.  Directed by Max Friedman, with choreography by Andrew Palermo, and music direction/arrangements by Adam Podd, the cast will feature Sam Bolen, Jeremy Cohen, and Jon J. Peterson.  Performances begin Tuesday, October 2, 2018 for a limited engagement through Sunday afternoon, November 4, 2018 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). Opening Night is Thursday evening, October 11, 2018 at 6:45 p.m. 

Geva Theatre Center presents Hair, with book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado, music by Galt MacDermot, directed by Melissa Rain Anderson, with musical direction by Don Kot, and choreography by Liz Ramos in the Elaine P. Wilson Stage from September 4 through October 7.

Westport Country Playhouse will present an open-caption performance in Spanish of the Tony Award-winning musical "Man of La Mancha," on Saturday, October 13, at 3 p.m.  This is the first time in the Playhouse's history that an open-caption performance in a language other than English will be offered.  An open-caption screen with the Spanish translation in real time will be located at the side of the stage and visible by all members of the audience.

The 2018 Season continues on high note this fall with the epic Broadway musical Man of La Mancha on stage at the Hamilton Family Theatre Cambridge (formerly Dunfield Theatre Cambridge) from October 10 to November 4. This timeless tale of love and redemption starring Artistic Director Alex Mustakas as Don Quixote is sure to enthrall audiences with its enchanting melodies and grand theatrical transformations.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the independent, not-for-profit affiliate of SDC, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, today announced unique plans for its 2019 award evening, which will feature original choreographic pieces resulting from a special commissioning program, with the application period now open. SDCF also announced that Victoria Traube would receive a special 'Mr. Abbott' Award at the event, to be held March 25 at the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF).

For the opening faculty concert of 2018-2019 at the University of Southern Maine School of Music, faculty clarinetist Thomas Parchman has assembled a chamber ensemble with faculty colleagues Krysia Tripp, flute and Robert Lehmann, violin, guest artists Bridget Convey, piano; John Mehrmann, percussion; Benjamin Noyes, cello, and special guest Zhantao Lin playing the erhu, a traditional Chinese bowed string instrument.
