Charlotte Street Foundation's Urban Culture Project is pleased to present Things to be Next To, an exhibition collaboration with threewalls, Chicago. Featuring recent and new work by Alberto Aguilar (Chicago), Peter Fagundo (Chicago), James Woodfill (Kansas City), and Warren Rosser (Kansas City), the exhibition will run September 4- October 15, 2010 in Kansas City at CSF's la Esquina (an Urban Culture Project venue), and at threewalls in Chicago, November 5-December 11, 2010.

Bolstered by a phenomenal title track, with an ache and a surfy twang that wouldn't be out of place substituting a Nancy Sinatra song on a Quentin Tarantino soundtrack, Eilen Jewell's latest album Sea of Tears caused quite a stir in the roots/Americana world in 2009. This whip-smart, charismatic Boston-area singer appears following a set by The Sacred Shakers, a who's who of all-star roots musicians (including Eilen) revisiting the bluesy gospel material that inspires them. Beijing Playhouse announced today that the U.S. Embassy will sponsor the September production of the classic Americana comedy You Can't Take It With You. Forty five year theatre veteran David Peck has been selected to direct the production which will be presented in the theatre of YCIS Beijing.

Following her debut release, For Lovers, Dreamers & Me, Rolling Stone Magazine listed her as one of the top ten artists to watch in 2006, writing 'Smith could easily be lumped in with expressive chanteuses like Norah Jones and Alicia Keys, but she has a broader palette than either.' For her Blue Note performances, Smith will be performing new acoustic material.
