The Museum of Modern Art presents Performing Histories: Live Artworks Examining the Past, a performance series held in conjunction with two exhibitions at MoMA: Tokyo 1950-1970: A New Avant-Garde (November 18, 2012, to February 25, 2013) and Inventing Abstraction, 1910-1925 (December 23, 2012, to April 15, 2013). These performances constitute 'live' responses to the contexts of the two exhibitions, highlighting various artistic methods of engaging with history through a wide range of forms-dance, music, theater, and performance art. The series includes works by Eiko & Koma, Ei Arakawa, Trajal Harrell, contact Gonzo, Kelly Nipper with Japanther, and Fabian Barba.

Tonight, October 11, 2012, at New York's Symphony Space, the Chuns continue their tribute to the Hungarian composer with "Folk Inflections with Angela and Jennifer Chun," a program featuring a second set of selections of the Bartok duos along with some of Luciano Berio's Duetti per due violini, which were written in homage to Bartok; Edmund Rubbra's Phantasy for two violins and piano; and Bartok's Roumanian Folk Dances for violin and piano, which the performers have arranged for two violins and piano.

Michael Perlman, whose critically acclaimed NYFringe solo show, Flying on the Wing, was named Outstanding Solo Show of 2006, debuts his new ensemble play, From White Plains, produced by Fault Line Theatre at the CSV Cultural Center from tonight, May 31st through June 10th. Perlman's solo show powerfully and imaginatively dealt with the playwright's personal struggles dealing with Stickler's Syndrome and coming to terms with his sexuality.

It's officially summer come June and this summer season promises to be an active one at the Frist Center. Next month kicks off with the opening of Metamorphoses: Drawings by Erin Anfinson, Kristi Hargrove, Mark Hosford, and Chris Scarborough in the Conte Community Arts Gallery, and is shortly followed by the opening of Constable: Oil Sketches from the Victoria and Albert Museum on June 22. The Frist has collaborated with Watkins College on an quilting workshop with edgy quilter Ben Venom and the second installment of Frist Fridays on June 29th features Sam Bush with special guest Lera Lynn.

While Introdans is one of The Netherlands three national dance companies, it is the only one that has never performed in the United States. This will be rectified tonight, May 1, through May 6 when the company makes its U.S. debut at The Joyce Theater with "Heavenly," a program featuring premieres by Nils Christe, Ed Wubbe and Gisela Rocha. The Joyce engagement is part of the company's 40th anniversary worldwide celebration.
