On Thursday, October 19, 2017, The City of Thousand Oaks Cultural Affairs Commission will honor Michael Pearce, Tish Greenwood, Edward Francis, and Young Artists Ensemble for their work in the arts. The event will take place at 7:00pm in the Janet and Ray Scherr Forum Theatre, at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks, CA 91362. The free event will be followed by a light reception. The Excellence in the Arts Awards are designed to honor and celebrate persons and organizations which contribute to the vibrancy of the arts and culture and increase access to arts experiences in Thousand Oaks. Also presented that evening, and still to be announced, is The Mayor's Award, granted to a recipient chosen at the discretion of the current Mayor of Thousand Oaks, Claudia Bill de-la Pena.

Cennarium, one of the largest streaming services for the performing arts, will make some of the most spectacular performances from around the world available to audiences for free during 'Promenade,' the first-ever streamed performing arts festival. The 2017-2019 season will train, and present new works from, composers Matthew Browne, Scott Ordway, Frances Pollock, Pamela Stein Lynde, Liliya Ugay, and Amber Vistein and librettists Laura Barati, Kim Davies, and Sokunthary Svay. The primary focus of Composers & the Voice is to give emerging composers and librettists experience working collaboratively with singers on writing for the voice and contemporary opera stage.

The 19th annual JAW: A Playwrights Festival is Portland's chance to preview spanking new scripts while they're still in development, enjoy a host of Press Play performances and dig deeper with Community Artist Labs presented by JAW featured artists.
