The Flaming Lips Release Greatest Hits Vol. 1 On June 1 Via Warner Bros. Records

The Flaming Lips announce their first official “hits” collection on Warner Bros. Records to be released on June 1. Greatest Hits Vol. 1 will compile eleven WBR-era singles and album tracks on a single black vinyl pressing. This is the first time The Lips have presented singles from Transmissions From The Satellite Heart (1993), Clouds Taste Metallic (1995), The Soft Bulletin (1999), Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots (2002), At War With The Mystics (2006),Embryonic (2009) and their current album Oczy Mlody (2017) on a single disc. The Deluxe digital and Deluxe 3-CD Edition ofGreatest Hits Vol.1 significantly expands the concept of their “hits” and gathers some of their best-loved album tracks from the aforementioned albums plus deep cuts from their WBR album debut, Hit To Death In The Future Head (1992), along with music from, Zaireeka (1997), The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends (2012) and The Terror (2013). The Deluxe Edition will also compile a generous hatful of International single B-sides, studio outtakes and several previously unreleased tracks to present an essential view into the extraordinary body of work from one of the most influential and enduring rock bands of all-time.

The 17th Annual Tribeca Film Festival Announces 2018 Juries

The Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today announced the members of ten juries, which reflect the tone and texture of the annual cultural showcase, which celebrates storytelling in film, television, virtual reality, music and games. The jurors will be tasked with honoring the new works of emerging and established members of the creative community with unique art awards and cash prizes as they present their works at the annual Festival. Mirroring the breadth of Tribeca's programming, the team of jurors include acclaimed filmmakers, award-winning actors, noteworthy producers, and cultural leaders. The Festival takes place April 18-29 in New York City.

Today the Franco-American Cultural Fund have announced that Mélanie Laurent will be honored as their “Focus on a Filmmaker” at the COLCOA French Film Festival.  Additionally, they have announced the five films that comprise the “COLCOA Classic Series.” These selections will be presented as part of COLCOA's 22nd edition, which will run Monday, April 23 through Monday, April 30, with all screenings taking place at the Directors Guild of America.   All films in the COLCOA Classics are free to the public. The complete line-up including films and series competing for the COLCOA Awards 2018 will be announced on April 3rd.

Sophie Mutter Returns To California And New York This March

This March, Anne-Sophie Mutter returns to the United States with her longtime collaborator pianist Lambert Orkis in a recital tour celebrating the 85th birthday of Krzysztof Penderecki. The two-date tour begins on Friday, March 2 at 7:30 PM in Weill Hall at the Green Music Center in Rohnert Park, CA. Mutter and Orkis then travel to Carnegie Hall for the second recital on Sunday, March 4 at 2:00 PM in Stern Auditorium, which will feature the world premiere of Andre Previn's The Fifth Season for Violin and Piano.
