MerleFest, presented by Window World, is proud to announce the next round of artist additions for MerleFest 2020, which will be held April 23-26. Melissa Etheridge, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, The Marcus King Band, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, and John Cowan will be joining the annual homecoming of musicians and music fans on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. 

MasterVoices to Perform New York Premiere of Jeremy Schonfeld's Rock-Opera IRON & COAL

MasterVoices, led by Artistic Director Ted Sperling, continues its 2019-20 season on January 10 and 11 at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College of Criminal Justice with the New York premiere of Iron & Coal, Jeremy Schonfeld's multimedia rock-opera about his family's experience in the Holocaust and its aftermath. Along with MasterVoices, joining Schonfeld onstage will be distinguished theater artist Rinde Eckert, tenor Daniel Rowan, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, and the New York-based contemporary music ensemble, Contemporaneous.

MasterVoices Announces 2019-20 Season

Ted Sperling, Artistic Director of MasterVoices, announced details of the acclaimed ensemble's 78th season, celebrating the joy of choral singing and the power of the human voice to unite, inspire and connect since 1941. Highlights include three major musical presentations at top venues, including a New York premiere, and the World Premiere of a new work, commissioned by the Company. Throughout the season there will be collaborations with leading singers, artists, ensembles and organizations, some who are familiar with and others who are new to the Company.

The North Wall's E8 Wins Stage Award

Alice Vilanculo has won a Stage Award for her performance as Bailey in E8, written by former PRU worker, Marika McKennell, and directed by double Fringe First Award-winner, Ria Parry. In it she plays a vulnerable schoolgirl who falls through the cracks of an underfunded education system; she was praised by The Stage's reviews editor for a a?oelayered portrayal of a volatile teenage girl.a?? E8 is produced by The North Wall in association with the Pleasance.

In one of the most improbable sports moments in recent memory, the film - featuring commentary from Watson along with other key individuals from the week - will detail the circumstances that led to a magical week that no one could have anticipated.

E8 Comes to Pleasance Dome

Directed by double Fringe First Award-winner Ria Parry, E8 is a searing examination of life in an alternative provision school. Writer and spoken word poet Marika Mckennell has drawn from her personal experience working in PRUs (pupil referral units) in Hackney to paint a vivid portrait of young people who fall through the cracks in mainstream education. Taking place over an hour of real time, E8 tells the story of Bailey, a student waiting for a decision that will change her life, and her relationship with her peers and head teacher, who is preparing to leave the school. Cut through with humour and pathos, their interaction asks audiences how we can consider each other's past pain if it leaves no visible mark.

“He would have wanted the show to go on,” Band of Friends bassist Gerry McAvoy laments about the passing of his lifelong friend and drummer, Ted McKenna. The two men had crisscrossed the globe together for decades playing high octane blues-rock at clubs, theaters, and festivals before McKenna passed away due to complications from a routine surgery he elected to undergo on his down time between tours.

More than a quarter (27 percent) of young children do not consume a single discrete serving of vegetables on a given day, according to the latest findings from the landmark Feeding Infants and Toddlers Study (FITS). Among the toddlers who do, French Fries are the No. 1 vegetable consumed, show the FITS findings, which have just been published in a series of eight papers in the Journal of Nutrition, a publication of the American Society for Nutrition.

Three of the UK's most exciting young actors - Luke Thallon, Matthew Needham and Isabella Laughland - will appear in Kate Hewitt's new production of Mike Bartlett's COCK, which will play in the round at Chichester's Minerva Theatre from 28 September - 27 October. They will be joined by Simon Chandler, whose most recent Chichester appearance was in Festival 2017's The Stepmother. This will be the first revival of Bartlett's Olivier Award-winning play since its 2009 premiere at the Royal Court.

Stage Entertainment has confirmed that due to exceptional public demand over 100,000 new tickets will go on sale today (Friday 26 January 2018) at 12noon GMT for TINA, a new musical based on the life of legendary artist Tina Turner. Officially opening at the Aldwych Theatre on 17 April 2018, with previews beginning on 21 March 2018, the show is now booking to 20 October 2018.

TINA, a new musical based on the life of legendary artist Tina Turner, has made a boom at the box office according to The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye. The columnist reported this evening that due to skyrocketing sales at the box office, the musical has released an additional 100,000 tickets for the show. The newly released tickets will extend the run of the show, now booking through October 2018.
