Oz: A New Musical, is an original musical exploring the genius of L. Frank Baum and his complicated relationship with his most famous creation, the Land of Oz. This is the story of a dreamer at the dawn of a new age who reinvented the fairy tale in a distinctly American way, painting an idealized and magical vision of a world where witches might be good, and what you’re seeking is already inside you.

The Orange Tree (OT) has announced its first full year of programming under new Artistic Director Tom Littler. It was 1939 when a 12-year-old Jack Mandelbaum’s world was completely turned upside down. The Nazis invaded his Polish home sending his family to the death camps changing his life forever. Six million Jews would die at the hands of Hitler, yet Mandelbaum survived the horrors of the concentration camps. Mandelbaum created a new life for himself with a family of his own. He became a successful businessman and co-founded the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education, an organization that teaches the history of the Holocaust, applying its lessons to counter indifference, intolerance and genocide.

Dr. Ruth and her incredible life are at the center of Mark St. Germain's play Becoming Dr. Ruth, which opens tonight at The Museum of Jewish Heritage. How my exposure to the diversity of New York theatre changed once I started going to Off-Off-Broadway more frequently than to Broadway.

The World Premiere production of “Four Children” has been brought to life by the Kansas City Actors Theatre on the City Stage inside Union Station as a minimalist, sadly shocking view of war against children and on a number of levels. It is not to be missed during its several week run. The playwright has taken snippets from the diaries of four childhood victims of successful or attempted genocides. Their testimony is woven together paragraph by paragraph into a seamless, searing whole despite each being separated by decades and thousands of miles.

Artistic Director Tim Carroll and the Shaw Festival have announced Outdoors @ The Shaw, a series of concerts and events scheduled to take place from July 10 to October 9, 2021 on the grounds of the Festival Theatre and Royal George Theatre in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
