The line-up for KEXP & Seattle Center Present Concerts at the Mural is now complete. The series offers live music on four evenings, featuring a curated line-up of noted indie musicians from our region, along with some noted national artists, free-of-charge, starting at 5:30 p.m., Fridays, today, Aug. 7, through Aug. 28, in Mural Amphitheatre at Seattle Center.
These companion releases of Soldier's solo piano (In Black & White) and quartet music (In Four Color) dissect and explore the two classic forms of the classical tradition. Together they encompass five hours of compositions spanning thirty years.

Following a successful 12-show, limited-engagement residency, The Smith Center for the Performing Arts is pleased to announce that Frankie Moreno will return for another 10 shows beginning next month. Starting tonight, July 14, and running through Sept. 29, dark July 28 and Aug. 4, Moreno will perform Tuesday evenings in Cabaret Jazz at 8 p.m.

More than 300 guests dressed in elegant cocktail attire gathered at The Westin South Coast Plaza for Pacific Symphony's Opening Night party on Thursday, Sept. 25, eager to celebrate Music Director Carl St.Clair's milestone 25th anniversary with the orchestra. A festive poolside cocktail reception and gourmet dinner in the Terrace Pavilion featured a bounty of surprises for St.Clair, including performances by Pacific Symphony musicians, the John Alexander Singers and music by the maestro's mentor, Leonard Bernstein. Hosted by the Symphony's Board of Directors, the special event continued through the opening concert of the 2014-15 Hal and Jeanette Segerstrom Family Foundation Classical series, featuring classical superstar Joshua Bell, and included a reception on the Box Circle level of the hall during intermission and a post-concert party back at The Westin. The evening—presented by South Coast Plaza—raised more than $150,000 to support the Symphony's artistic and education programs. Back in 2008, when I moved from my small New York City apartment to my 3 bedroom house on a half-acre in Norwalk, CT, I was both 'excited AND scared', to quote Little Red from Into the Woods. I was excited for the change, for the possibilities, and for the extra space, yet scared for the unknown, the new responsibilities, and the financial undertaking. I'm sure 'excited AND scared' sums up the feelings held by Kevin Connors and Jim Schilling when faced with their latest venture - moving Music Theatre of Connecticut from its quaint and cozy home in the basement of a Westport strip mall to the spacious and state-of-the-art surroundings at the Company's new location at 509 Westport Avenue in Norwalk, CT. However, 'excited' might be the dominant emotion.
