The Society for the Preservation of Music Hall (SPMH) presents its first silent film - Buster Keaton in Steamboat Bill, Jr., featuring the Mighty Wurlitzer and acclaimed theatre organist Clark Wilson - at Cincinnati's Music Hall Ballroom today, May 9 at 10:30 AM and 7:00 PM. The event is being presented in cooperation with the Ohio Valley Chapter of the American Organ Society.

The acclaimed Australian musical ensemble Viola Dana will make a rare New York appearance to perform violist and composer Kathy Corecig's fresh and delightful new score to Buster Keaton's The General at Museum of the Moving Image. Corecig's country- and bluegrass-infused blend of American folk tunes, Steve Reich-inspired train evocations, and jazz will bring Keaton's great film to life in a performance that will enchant audiences of all ages. The performance takes place on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. Tickets, which are $15 public/$9 Museum members (and free for Silver Screen members and above), include admission to the Museum, with access to the new exhibition Spectacle: The Music Video.

New York City Center will present Pacific Northwest Ballet in its first full-company performance in NYC since 1996, February 13-16, 2013. PNB, celebrating its 40th Anniversary season, will present two programs featuring a mixed repertoire of Balanchine ballets and Jean-Christophe Maillot's full-length Roméo et Juliette. The troupe will be accompanied by the PNB Orchestra, led by Music Director and Principal Conductor Emil de Cou.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame Committee has selected a distinguished group of television innovators and icons to be inducted into the 22nd Hall of Fame. Additionally, for the first time ever, this year's Hall of Fame ceremony will benefit the Television Academy Foundation's Archive of American Television.

On January 17th, TCL (formerly Grauman's) Chinese Theatre presented a public screening of 'THE BIRDS' featuring a Q&A with cast co-stars Tippi Hedren and Veronica Cartwright. OPERA America, the national service organization for opera, has announced that it has awarded grants to 10 opera companies and four teams of artists through two funding programs: The Opera Fund: Repertoire Development and the Robert L.B. Tobin Director-Designer Showcase. These grants support the production of new North American opera and help develop the careers of promising directors and designers, respectively.

In the crisp, morning hours on December 27, 2012 I got the chance to speak with Lara Teeter, who will be playing Cap'n Andy in the upcoming production of SHOW BOAT at Houston Grand Opera. The celebrated actor had a plethora of interesting and scholarly items to discuss about SHOW BOAT, and the character of Cap'n Andy. We also had a good time discussing his career as an actor, director, choreographer, and teacher.

Tommy Bahama, the island-inspired lifestyle brand will open its first global flagship store located at 551 Fifth Avenue in New York. The store is the largest Tommy Bahama retail location worldwide and features a 5,000-square-foot store featuring men's and women's apparel, swimwear, footwear, accessories and home decor, the 1,300 square-foot Marlin Bar, the only free-standing bar between the Empire State Building and Central Park, as well as a 6,700-square-foot Tommy Bahama Restaurant and Bar, located on the second floor.
